[/url]http://www.freep.com/news/latestnews/pm6156_20050921.htm[url] Jeep takes a dive -- from a helicopter Wednesday, September 21, 2005 FREE PRESS STAFF REPORT Jeep dropped the Jeep Commander, a new SUV, from a helicopter at 1,200 feet Wednesday in an open field at DaimlerChrysler's proving grounds in Chelsea. Four parachutes opened to guide the Commander gently to a grassy field. Seven professionals from Skydive Chicago jumped at the same time from another helicopter, landed next to the Commander, hopped in the vehicle once it was on the ground and drove away. Jeep was publicizing the Commander, a new model assembled in Detroit and arriving at dealerships this fall.
