skydiverek 63 #1 June 23, 2008 Did you buy a brand new Spectre 190? If so, can someone measure the slider and write here what its dimensions are? I bought the used Spectre 190 and am not sure if it has the correct slider. PD says the dimensions should be 23 x 31 inches. I measured mine and it is 21.66 x 30 inches (I measured ALL of it, that is the zero-p material inside, plus the tape on the edge). PD also said different measuring techniques yield different results, and that probably I have a correct slider, but I want to double check with some of the dz.com users :). I measured it the way I would measure any other rectangle, so I cannot see a different "method" of measuring ... Thanks!
ryoder 1,590 #2 June 23, 2008 PD is probably talking about the cut dimensions. Fabric always "shrinks" when sewn due to the puckering of the stiches."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. pilotdave 0 #3 June 23, 2008 Wouldn't it be odd for a manufacturer to give dimensions of raw materials that can't be measured by the customer? I don't think they'd do that. Dave

Dave The amount of shrinkage depends on the thread tension of the sewing machine, so I don't think it would be unusual to give a cut dimension in this case. I would expect them to mention whether that dimension was cut or finished."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. monkycndo 0 #5 June 23, 2008 I had this same issue when I bought a used Sabre 170. Thought the slider was too small and bought a replacement. The new slider was the exact same size. I measured mine wrong. Per PD, fold the slider in half and measure at the fold while pulling the fabric tight. The sewing of the reinforcing around the edge causes the dimensions to shrink just a bit both in length and width.50 donations so far. Give it a try. It also depends upon the sewer's technique ... whether she got drunk last night, etc. The finished product might be the exact same dimensions - it was cut - or as much as ten percent smaller.
