carbonezone 0 #27 October 10, 2005 QuoteThat's crazy! If that dog attacks other dogs, how does he act around small children? There is no way he (dog or owner, for that matter) should be allowed at a dropzone. There is no way the owner did not know his dog was aggressive and unpredictable- to bring him out in public in inexcusable! Yea…this is a tuff one. In all fairness Herc almost always plays the “this is my dropzone card”, and will do the normal standoff thing and they (the dogs) work it out. So he is no angel ….but he has never ever bitten or hurt another dog. He has never ever growled or even looked cross-eyed at a child. We think it might have been about food. Scotty and Edwardo were walking down to the bus “Scotty carrying dinner”. Tommy (bad doggy) was walking with Edwardo. Herc was walking with Scotty. Herc took off running for the bus door and BOOM Tommy took off after Herc and attacked him from behind. I heard the attack at the DZ next door was over a piece of chicken. I have never heard of Tommy being aggressive with children but I wouldnt trust it AT ALL. Thanks for the well wishes! <> Tami
gjhdiver 0 #28 October 10, 2005 QuotePost pics of dropzone dogs! A dropzone needs dogs like my motorcycle needs a fucking ashtray. I have nothing against dogs per se, but if I find one more dog bomb in the landing area that some inconsiderate fuckwit hasn't picked up after because they are letting fido run free on his weekend, I'm going to go walkies with Mr. Para-Ordnance. Then I'm going to cockpunch the owner. Trust me.
tigra 0 #29 October 10, 2005 Was the dog a rescue? I've never thought of a lab as an aggressive dog. When I watch those shows like Animal Cops and they are testing the dogs' behaviour, I always think the test where they take food away from them is unfair, but the truth is, most dogs never forget when they've been deprived of food for a long time. We took in an old beagle that had been out on her own for a while and she used to stash food all over the house! Regardless, that dog shouldn't be out in public and the owner should have known better.

We just got off the phone with the owner and the dog will not be out on the this dropzone again. <> Tami

skycat 0 #35 October 10, 2005 QuoteDogs at the DZ sucks... Crap/Pee in the packing area, landing zone and everywhere, not controlled by owners, running/walking all over conopies, snagging lines, barking/growling at strangers, making off with clothes/shoes, chewing up everything.... Please leave the dogs at home. Yeah, dog owners flame away.... As a dog owner I take absolutely no offence to your feelings. I actually agree with you, I have seen way to many dog owners who think their little bundle of fluff can't do anything wrong and when they do they blame someone or something else for it's behavior. It's those owners that get dog parks/beach/trails closed because fluffy started dog fights, attacked people, and pooped all over the place while it's owners laughed and didn't stop the behavior or pick up the poop. So what happens is the responsible owners who spend the time training their dogs, keep them under control, and clean up after them that end up with dogs with puncture wounds and no where to spend quality time with their pet. Tammy - Give Herc a hug from Foxy and me! Foxy on the left has spent a lot of time at Skydive USA as the DZ dog but was always tied up by my tent or car during the day and with me at night drinking all the beer spilled on the ground by the bonfire (not by me). Sherpa on the right has never been, he lacks impulse control but he is only 13 months old and in the last month has gotten much better.Fly it like you stole it! But are allowed in the camp ground. Which is good for those of us with pooches that come out for the weekend. My guys get to hang out in an airconditioned/heated trailer when im out there. I go back and walk them as needed. nate_1979 9 #39 October 10, 2005 We have a dog that roams around the DZ.. I think that it was a stray who just found a great place at the DZ awhile back.. If you dont see the dog all you gotta do is get some food and start eating and it will be at your feet in no time ... Think its pretty old, kinda in rough shape, but really sweet.. Kinda funny when going through the packing area the dog even steps over peoples lines instead of on them (from what I've always seen).... Most dogs would annoy me walking around freely, especially in a packing area, but this ones alright.. I'll get a pic next time I'm at the DZ. FGF #??? I miss the sky... tigra 0 #43 October 10, 2005 Dogs on the dropzone are sort of like kids on the dropzone. The ones with responsible parents who look after them and keep them out of trouble and away from the rigs are welcome. To be honest, I've probably seen more irresponsible parents at the dz than dog owners! And the worst tend to be the ones who show up for the day to do a tandem. They'll either leave their dog roasting in the car or chained to a tree and let their child run wild in the hangar.

I need to get a little bandana on him that says "dont feed me...my daddy breaks enough rules" . He has been getting food from me....by spoon for a few days now "chicken, turkey and his own dog food". His treat, "with his medication mixed in" is yogurt. He eats it right off the spoon just like a baby !!! <> Tami
