lawrocket 3 #1 October 5, 2005 I missed hockey. Despite all of those out there who shit on the great sport, I am personally very glad to see its return. My beloved Kings take on Dallas tonight, and with the satellite system providing one week of free NHL Center Ice, I intend to view this game in its entirety (if my son lets me). I'm interested to see the game flow with the new rules, too. Anyone else here damned glad to see hockey's return? My wife is hotter than your wife. Gone_Skiing 0 #3 October 5, 2005 Damn glad it's back!!! I went to a couple pre-season games and even got to play on the ice a few weeks ago. Definitely more room to skate and the lack of the two line pass is generating a ton more odd man rushes (even a few 1 on 0's which were unheard of before). -Nick GO AVS!!! -- I used to pray to God for a bicycle. Then I realized God doesn't work that way. So I stole one and prayed for forgiveness.
skybytch 273 #4 October 5, 2005 I know someone who is damned glad to see hockey's return. He forced me to go to a Sharks pre-season game last weekend. I didn't think I liked hockey, but apparently I do. Those guys can freakin' SKATE! Keep an eye on Phoenix's rookie goalie this season. He faced 45 shots on goal last Friday and only let two get by him. Impressive.
lawrocket 3 #5 October 5, 2005 The past two years I have been unable to make my yearly trek to Las Vegas to see the Kings play the Avalanche. Last year it was because of a canceled season. This year it was because I had trial two days later. My best friend has invited me to a couple of games at Staples this year. I just need to find a way to make the 500 mile round trip. Of course, it will be worth it. My wife is hotter than your wife.
grue 1 #6 October 5, 2005 I'm just pissed that the games are all on some previously-worthless network that isn't on our cable system here, so I don't get to see any games. I'm also glad that the new rules haven't trickled down to my league yet, seeing as I'm a goalie who loooves to leave the net to play the puck.cavete terrae. CanuckInUSA 0 #8 October 5, 2005 QuoteI'm so happy hockey is back. Nothing like going to a game The NHL is the premiere hockey league in the world and the talent level is outstanding to watch at a live venue. But as a former Colorado Avs season ticket holder who gave up his season ticket rights just before the lockout, I'm not going to miss actually going to the games. After 200+ or so live games I've attended over the years, the novelty of the pro game has worn off. If we could return to our ticket prices we paid back in the 80s, I'd love to attend more games, but the $240 dollars I was spending for 3 hours of entertainment each game for my two Avs seats (very good seats close to center ice 22 rows from the ice) just didn't justify the same entertainment value I'd get for spending the same amount of money on jumping. I am glad that the NHL players got back to their senses (they had a much better deal from the owners before their strike so they really fucked themselves), and I'm glad hockey will be back. But this strike/lockout has surfaced everything that is wrong with professional sports and our society. I'll watch the games on TV when I have nothing better to do because I love the game, but I don't plan on attending an NHL game anytime soon. Millionaires arguing with billionaires have changed my outlook on this sport as well as all professional sports. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
simplyputsi 0 #9 October 5, 2005 Hell yeah!!! Hockey rulz!!! Watch out for those Thrashers, our preseason may have been sketchy but we will be a presence to be dealt with this year. Yeah the lack of season last year pissed me off. We HAD the all star game coming here and now nada. Oh and yes the prices do suck for a hockey game, but atlanta takes care of it with deals here and there. I can go for $15 and that will be a seat on the upper deck, but you can see everything the way the rink is laid out. After watching some of the pre-season games and last night's 'official' games, I like the new rules. I've seen the 'shoot-out' at local CHL games. I think, it's great! I hate ties. Watched the Red Wings - St. Louis game. Good game. A couple of fights... yeah! I'm beginning to think, the great game of hockey, did need some change. Looking forward to more!!!
