I'm not sure of the reason, all I know is my grandmother wanted to take a picture of an Amish family and their buggy and they about flipped

I've done so much, with so little, for so long

Yea I know that too but it is actually due to the belief that it captures your soul. I thought it was Hinduism but not sure.

Probably... I know keepers of the Taj Mahal bans picture or video-taking of the monument. If they catch you, they either break or take your camera or at least rip the film out...

I don't think it's Hinduism that bans that - I think the Taj Mahal simply prohibits you from taking pictures because then they can sell more postcards. Hinduism is basically a blanket term for a bunch of related religions, though, so who knows...

I have heard of very devout Jews and some Muslims who opposed having their pictures taken based on the following logic:

- Thou shalt not make any graven images [of God] (Exodus 20:4-6)

- Man is made in God's image (Genesis 1:26-27)

- Therefore, making images of man is making images of God (which is bad)

Shamans, won;t aloud you to take them pictures or any video, they belive your soul gets capture with it which it will prevail them from achieving total freedom. There's some books in reference to this, most of them written by Carlos Castaneda.

I had a friend who would never let me take his picture... He said it was a Native American thing... but I always wondered if he was just wanted by the FBI or something. :D

I had forgotten you changed your avatar. When I opened your post and saw Frenchy's 'goggles', I about had a coronary arrest! Honest to god! I'm o.k. now. Bodily functions have continued.
Somebody needs to take that camera away from him. Maybe, we could do an exocism?
