JustaBill 0 #2 September 30, 2005 I know the Amish don't like their pictures taken, but I'm not sure if that is the reason or not.------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever
dmcoco84 5 #3 September 30, 2005 Yea I know that too but it is actually due to the belief that it captures your soul. I thought it was Hinduism but not sure.

I know keepers of the Taj Mahal bans picture or video-taking of the monument. If they catch you, they either break or take your camera or at least rip the film out..."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Jeff.Donohue 0 #8 September 30, 2005 I don't think it's Hinduism that bans that - I think the Taj Mahal simply prohibits you from taking pictures because then they can sell more postcards. Hinduism is basically a blanket term for a bunch of related religions, though, so who knows... I have heard of very devout Jews and some Muslims who opposed having their pictures taken based on the following logic: - Thou shalt not make any graven images [of God] (Exodus 20:4-6) - Man is made in God's image (Genesis 1:26-27) - Therefore, making images of man is making images of God (which is bad) /agnostic
