NWFlyer 2 #29 September 27, 2005 QuoteQuoteQuoteBut how do rockclimbers get laid? I couldn't find their equivalent of the Bonfire. It's called "Community" and it's way down at the bottom. They even have an entire section devoted to finding a "partner". There's also a thread called "hot chicks looking for cool climbing guys." What kind of response do you think I'd get if I posted something similar here?"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. TomAiello 26 #32 September 27, 2005 QuoteSaw that thread too. Yeah, I'm clueless. Don't worry. Several of the people posting on that thread were pretty clueless too. I particularly laughed over: a) The poster mocking the person who asked him if he used hooks, and b) The poster who couldn't believe that anyone would think you could start out with trad climbing. I started with trad climbing, and I've got several hooks on my rack. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Frenchy68 0 #42 September 28, 2005 QuoteLet me think of some other good definitions... Actually, a "Trad" is a tracking technique, where one cups air through his/her eyeball sockets. "Trad" is short for "Dude, that Track was RAD!!! Any more questions? philbox 0 #47 September 28, 2005 Hi guys Phil here, I`ve been an administrator/site manager/moderator over on rc.com for quite some time now. Feel free to ask me any questions so that you can ease yourselves in to the rc.com experience. A word of warning that the denizens of community forum will eat you like sharks. You will be known not as a wuffo but as a n00B!!111. Oh yes there is a thread in general called The Women of rc.com. Flames and trolls are not tolerated in any of the forums. Personal attacks are the least tolerated. The community forum is pretty much open slateher except for outright trollery and flames and personal attacks. There are some very vigourous debates in community and you should feel free to participate. We have some pretty specific nomenclature for a lot of what we do in climbing much in the same way that you would in your chosen sport/passion. Allow me to explain a couple. Rack= A collection of bits and pieces of protection that a climber places in the rock to keep themselves safe whilst making upward progress. Nuts= A set of passive pieces of protection that one places to keep oneself safe whilst making upward progress, usually kept on ones rack until needed. Crack= A crack is a geological feature that one can stuff ones nuts in in order to keep oneself safe whilst making upwards progress on a cliff. Woody= A homemade climbing wall where one can practice climbing moves. Hope that is helpful to one and all, if there is anything that you need to know then feel free to just ask. Oh yes, if you do happen to amass a large number of posts over on rc.com then your losertude will be confirmed and yes you do not have a life.
