cocheese 0 #1 September 28, 2005 End of January would be the time. Moose Lodge and Township Hall are next door to each other on a 3 mile long lake. Lake Fenton is a 20 minute drive from Flint airport and a small airport is just 15 minutes away.Twp. Hall has a nice large floor/hall to rent suitable for wedding receptions/parties etc. or packing/party /spending the night. Hotels are nearby as well.Did this boogie once 2 years ago and got 8 loads of 5 off from 4,000 ft. in a cessna 206.It would be a lot of work to organize a bigger boogie /party, but i think it may be fun.So who wants to attend ? Frenchy68 0 #2 September 28, 2005 Does anyone ever jump in sub-70's temperature? I gather not. But then again, who goes to a boogie to jump? Sounds like a good plan. Sen.Blutarsky 0 #7 September 28, 2005 Ice Boogie? A friend from Framingham, NM is a leader of Chicks With Picks and that's near Durango, CO where they take us to ice climb during winter. Another friend in Manitoulin Island, Canada (proximate to my childhood stomping grounds, Soo St. Marie, Michigan) gets us out on the fast ice boats. What do you mean by Ice Boogie precisely? cocheese 0 #8 September 28, 2005 Didn't think i needed to explain it to skydivers but it's a boogie held on a frozen lake. Land your parachute on a frozen lake.Picture a 3 mile long smooth soft landing area.(If snow is present on ice.) Snowmobiles to pick you up from a distant landing. Possibly planes landing on this 3ft+ thick ice. Bon-fire on ice. The heat rises so it doesn't even dent the ice much after all day burn.Kite flying,r/c planes, motorcycles drinking, and whatever else you can do on ice. Hope this helps. Well, now that you've been more specific that sounds like fun. As opposed to Pacific Northwest winter jumping when it's just cold and damp and gray and yeah, the landing area may be soft, but that's just because it's mud."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. monkey1031 0 #10 September 28, 2005 Given the nature of water freezing when it's below 32 degrees F. and the condensation in your lungs being exhaled as you breathe, I'm pretty sure you'll have an ice boogie whether you want one or not. -smd7
Flyinrob 0 #11 September 28, 2005 Cocheese.. I was there two years ago, had a great time! I would be very much interested in helping get this thing organized. I'll check with Pelzer this weekend to see if the caravan is staying through the winter. If so, it could possibly be available. I'll let you know..
