FlyingTed 0 #1 September 26, 2005 Hey, can somebody else see that I use his/her wireless network? I`ve no idea, hope not. Thanks. Kat #1094
hookitt 1 #2 September 26, 2005 Yes. If he looks and knows what he's looking for. Chances are that if it's an open network, he won't know what to look for anyway. When the router dishes out an IP address via DHCP, it's listed in the LAN status window. Your MAC address will be listed along with the IP address your computer was given. There are instructions in every router manual to enable security. If he doesn't enable it... well.. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... FlyingTed 0 #3 September 26, 2005 Ok - nobody uses an open network, except somebody who has absolutely no idea what he`s doin`. Anyway, good luck and if he finds out, bad luck. As long as it is not illegal, I`m fine. :) Let`s surf ... #1094

I did it until someone decided to abuse it, so I shut it down... Some people just dont care if people use their internet. FGF #??? I miss the sky... hookitt 1 #5 September 26, 2005 Well, actually... mines open. But the signal isn't very strong. I've yet to see anyone by my room mates logged onto it. If you can log onto the router with the default password, then he probably just took it out of the box and plugged it in... and probably doesn't or is too lazy to set it up securely. At my old place, I used my neighbors wireless connection fairly often but didn't do any downloads that would use up the bandwidth and make his connection really slow.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... My old ISP actually had instructions on their page on how to share your internet with neighbors if you so desired to do so .... Really like that company, they basicly have a "do whatever you want with your connection as long as its not illegal" policy .. I ran an FTP server and all kinds of crap off of that one.. They even gave me reverse DNS on the IP... FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't. FlyingTed 0 #11 September 26, 2005 btw, during the last few hours I had about 10 networks on my list and 3 were/are unprotected. The signals are all not very good, but it`s enough for me. #1094
