Let's face it, if the govt can't stop it from happening, that would sow the seed of uncertainty in the minds of the populace. Remember how aliens used to kidnap rednecks from the Florida Panhandle on a weekly basis ? Same thing. They had to deny that their were aliens or people would have panicked when they sobered up. Fortunately, they are camera-shy and the sudden increase in camcorders has reduced the numbers of sightings. That's my theory anyway. Aliens needing extra spaceship power.
