It looks like we're closed for at least one more weekend. The weather is probably going to suck anyways.

I got the following e-mail from Mike Igo:

Hello Everyone,

I wish I had better news but unfortunately I just received official
word from the airport manager that the DZ will be closed again this weekend.
Due to Hurricane Rita, the Temporary Flight Restrictions have been extended
another week over the Trent Lott Airport. Our Super Otter is raring to go as
soon as we possibly can. While in Atlanta, we had a number of things done to
the plane so we won't have to fly it back up there for follow-up maintenance.
The landing gear had reached its time life cycle and was due to be replaced
in about 3 months, so we had National AeroTech go ahead and do the
replacement now. Except for the paint job, which is scheduled for later this year,
71EC will be an almost brand spanking new jump plane. Because it is a lighter
100 series Otter, it should climb like a bandit.
In the meantime, I know you folks are itching to make a skydive so I
encourage you to visit our friends and neighbors at Emerald Coast Skydiving in
Elberta, Alabama. They should have a Caravan running all weekend but to be
sure you may want to call them at (251) 986-5618. I will keep everyone posted
as well as I can. We should be allowed to have our grand reopening next
weekend.
