vamp 0 #1 September 21, 2005 Is this typical? What the?????? Because they didn't want "a large weekend jump" in the area? Wowser. http://www.fortmorgantimes.com/Stories/0,1413,164~8312~3062562,00.html QuoteCouncil prohibits skydiving at airport By REBECCA DUDLEY Special To The Times Brush City Council issued a cease and desist order to the principals at Denver Skydivers during a special meeting Wednesday. The order was a preemptive strike after rumors of a large weekend jump reached the ears of council members. According to observers, while several jumpers were seen on the airport property packing parachutes over the weekend, and several planes flew in and out, no jumpers were spotted on city land. However, some jumpers were seen drifting down south of Highway 71, landing on privately owned property. Council, noting its responsibility on behalf of city taxpayers who are the owners of the Brush Municipal Airport, issued the order prohibiting all skydiving operations, including the operation of any jump plane and the landing of jumpers, exterior storage of automobiles, recreational vehicles and other items and the discharging of any firearms. Hooknswoop 19 #2 September 21, 2005 QuoteBecause they didn't want "a large weekend jump" in the area? Wowser. "the operations agreement they held with the city was terminated June 6 when Williams and Fortner were unable to produce proof of liability insurance as was required in the agreement" Sounds like it is because of the insurance and failing to have it per the agreement before. If they have the insurance now, then they should be good to go. riddler 0 #4 September 21, 2005 QuoteHowever, some jumpers were seen drifting down south of Highway 71, landing on privately owned property. I wasn't able to make it to the boogie last weekend. The off-airport landing would be unusual for Colorado. I think I've heard it done at Hollister? or other DZs in other states. But I've never hear of it done in Colorado. Maybe some CO jumpers with more experience than me could relate any stories. More importantly for Colorado jumpers: Randy has already announced the return to Brush airport. Will this end the return of Brush as a viable dropzone for us?Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
