happythoughts 0 #26 September 19, 2005 I believe in statistics. If you live in a rough neighborhood, chances are, you'll get mugged. It won't matter whether you are nice or not. I'll bet that the convenience store in a wealthy area gets robbed less. $100 isn't a temptation to people with $200 shoes. The only way that it seems to work is that bad people alienate enough good people until they are just around people like them.

swedishcelt 0 #28 September 19, 2005 I don't know about the whole 'reap what you sow thing...' I try to be a good person and do good things for people. I still get it thrown in my face a lot. Life doesn't always give you back what you deserve. You can total your car, lose your job, get sick mysteriously, break your leg, have loved ones die and be dumped and it has nothing to do with Karma. Bad stuff just happens sometimes to good people. The Karma I believe in is more of the fact that I do think an asshole will screw themselves in the end through their actions. People will see through them eventually and they will be alone eventually. Good stuff is a waiting game, if your positive and true to yourself then good will eventually start happening again. Is that hope?

MikeJD 0 #31 September 19, 2005 No, I don't believe it exists as a universal force. But it should! Like others have said, bad things are more likely to happen to bad people. But bad things happen to good people too.
bianuan 0 #32 September 19, 2005 I asnwered 'I do, kinda sorta, when stuff is going wrong in life,' but by that i mean thats when i notice what i call karma and its effects. What goes around comes around for sure. Someones single good action can implement both good and bad things - maybe deserved karma or not, but being 'bad' may be part of someones comeupance Ann
Bolas 5 #33 September 19, 2005 I believe in Karma, but also balance. If things are going really bad for a while, they will turn around and they will be inversely just as great. Sometimes I get nervous when things are going really good because I feel like the balance is gonna suck.Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh. I think "Karma" is load of bunk, but I do believe in the above. A person affects themselves and those about them, including what people expect of them, through their actions. There is no universal tally sheet, only our actions. ... Peej 0 #37 September 19, 2005 Do i believe in Karma? How's this? I go to see a movie with some buddies of mine one night. We walk out into the car park after the flick and past an Opel Astra, the same car that Darryl drives. D looks down and goes: "Oh cool, this guy has the same bumper i do" and proceeds to pull out a piece that he's missing from his bumper. Ryan and i are like: "dude, you can't do that!". He tells us it's all good cos someone stole the piece from him in the first place. We get to his car and he sticks the missing piece into his bumper and we drive off, he's as happy as a pig in shit. I shit you not, not two sets of lights down a lady reverses and drives into his car, smashing the front bumper completely. Now that's instant Karma! boinky 0 #41 September 20, 2005 I don't know about specific Karma, although I voted 100% yes. I only voted that because I don't try to get even with someone who has done me wrong. I believe that each person has to answer to themselves for their actions. Good and bad. I've been described as 95% happy. I try to follow a good set of personal morals. I agree with Shall. I am a firm believer of the "Pay It Forward" philosophy. I lecture my friends and family on it a lot. Don't do for people because you want something in return. Do for them because they need it. I do a lot of things for people. I do not expect and rarely want anyone to do for me. I would prefer they do for someone else who might need a helping hand more than I do. On the other hand, I didn't always hold this belief. I was bitter, bitchy and vengeful. If something bad should happen to me in the future, it would undoubtedly be a throwback to those times. Piers Anthony wrote a series called, "Incarnations of Immortality." In it, there was "Thanatos" or death. His job was to collect souls from dying people who were hanging in the balance. People who were majority good or bad, automatically went to the proper final resting place. He had to "read" those collected souls and decide if they deserved to go to Heaven or Hell. If true life/death is like that, then I hope my turned around attitude about life and people will send me to a positive, happy place.Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? chanell 0 #42 September 20, 2005 I also believe that every situation must be looked at objectively. Each person takes something different from each situation. hypotheticly, i may have lost my house in a fire, but i also may have been wanting to move or build a new house but not have the money, home owners insurance pays for the damage and i have my new house. I know it doesn't always work out that great, we don't live in disney world, i haven't seen any fairy godmothers, but the point is that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. one mans trash is another mans treasure. positive things can and do come out of negative experiences, you just have to have an open mind to see them clearly and appreciate them to their fullest. A lot of people died in LA and MS and FL and a couple other states due to Katrina, and, no, i don't believe that any of those young children could have possibly done anything to earn such bad karma, so please dont' take offense to this toward that situation. I don't pretend to know everything, I just have my beliefs that i am entitled to, and have no idea how karma fits in to that situation.Numero Cinco Rodriguez
Airbender 0 #43 September 20, 2005 I beleive to a degree. Being one of faith I read scriptures God promises us certain things if we do certain things, thats my karma. I once herd the best thing that can happen to you is nothing. Having four children I totally agree with this if I get through a day and nothing happened what a good day it has been. This doesn't happen to often though. They will be installing a reserved parking spot at the ER for our family soon.
