globalskyjunkie 0 #53 September 3, 2005 I currently have transportation (my SUV) here in Austin, TX where lots of the hurricane homeless are now moving too since Houston is full. I also have some time off and can pick up anyone from N.O. (if needed) and take you to where ever you need to go (family, new dz.com roommate, etc.) I would offer my home but I currently do not have one and am sleeping on a couch myself. pm me and I will check it daily...___________________________ I always say the wrong thing, usually because I'm bored

Muenkel 0 #56 September 5, 2005 This is a great thread. I just want to suggest to anyone considering taking any refugees into their home to check with your homeowner's policy. Make sure you have protection for them and protect yourself should someone get injured. _________________________________________ Chris

haymangonzo 0 #58 September 5, 2005 With so many people being displaced and homeless, does anybody know if there is a job/recruitment website geared specifically at these people. If there is any need for this, I could set up a site where employers could post job openings geared towards these victims and jobless ppl post their availability? Any thoughts? *** Nice to meet you toot!
Shotgun 1 #59 September 5, 2005 QuoteWith so many people being displaced and homeless, does anybody know if there is a job/recruitment website geared specifically at these people. Craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org/) has something like this. The cities in red (on the right-hand side) have Katrina relief sections with temporary jobs available.
Shotgun 1 #60 September 5, 2005 I also meant to say... It would probably still be a good idea to set up your own website. You could include links to any other resources (such as craigslist) that might be helpful.

Apollinaire 0 #62 September 6, 2005 I'd be happy to pick someone up after work on Friday and drive them anywhere I could get to and still get back to work on Monday driving as many hours as I can stay awake. I live in the Mid-Tennessee area and will go wherever to get someone where they need to go. Wish I had more time off to give but I'm new at my job. Let me know if you need a ride somewhere. I'm also available on the weekend to help carry stuff down if anyone needs that kind of help.
skyflyingbecca 0 #63 September 7, 2005 Hey Rky! When did you move to S.FL?? We need to hook up one of these days babe! My roommates just moved out, so I am adding my WPB, FL home to the list below. 1 master bedroom+bath, 2 couches in a 2-2 1/5 townhouse(I'm never home) kids and dogs very welcome! However, my cat would not allow another feline in, sorry. Prefer non-smoking skydivers, but we can work something out if not... PM me plz! I would love to have you here! And, as posted below, there are *TONS* of jobs here, especially in Health Care and Construction. Oh and the snowbird season is starting, so we need seasonal, hospitality, and retail too. And my Fire Dept is hiring at the moment: EMT/Firefighters. Unfortunately, we have hurricanes, too. If you want to relocate, I'm unsure if this is the place.... peregrinerose 0 #64 September 7, 2005 We're a hell of a hike from LA, but we have a spare bedroom, could put at least two people there. A couple more if absolutely needed in the finished basement. We also have a camper at the DZ we'd definitely let a family live in, at least 4 could fit in it.
