Going to Cincinnati. What to do?

Recommended Posts

To make a long story short I will be in Cincinnati monday afternoon and flying back out friday afternoon. Anybody want to get together and wathch some monday night football and have a few beers at a local pub or anything. The thought of sitting in a hotel room all night is a little sickening. Or is there a DZ close by that I might be able to get a couple afternoon early evening jumps in at? If thats the case I will bring my rig.

Closest DZ's are SGC and Greensburg. Greensburg is by far much busier during the week then SGC so give them a ring and ask what their schedule is looking like this week. With Fastrax going to the Worlds soon, I got to believe they are flying a lot.

There is a Jillians just across the river that is pretty cool.I don't know much more about Cinci other then they have gambling on the river boats.

Sweet, I dont know about gambling but a nice cold beer and a monday night game would hit the spot. I'm going to be at the GE AC engine plant for some classes but am in a hotel on the north end of town. Will call greensburg to see what there doing. Thanks for the input. Anybody want to get together for a beer I'll buy a few rounds!

Things to do in Cincinnati:

1. If you have to beg, borrow, steal or weasel your way...you absolutely MUST try some Graeter's Ice Cream (pronounced "greaters"). I don't care where you are or what you're doing, your life will never be the same once you've had this incredible frozen concoction that was obviously invented by the angels to eat in heaven. Ask anyone from Cincy.

2. Eat Chili. Specifically, you need to try Skyline chili. It's NOT Texas Chili. Go to Skyline. Order a "3-way". Enjoy. =) Glod Star is a cheap knockoff. Skyline is the only true "Cincinnati chili" there is.

3. Go to the Montgomery Inn for ribs. Kansas city ain't got nothin' on these. You will NOT be disappointed.

4. Try to head to Bogart's one night. Still the best live music in Cincy, since before I was in high school. Wed. the 28th is a Social Distortion show...nice! www.bogarts.com

5. Go across to the Covington/Newport waterfront. There's some fun places over there.

Where are you staying? Downtown or in a suburb? Have fun! Cincy is really a great little city.

I'm in a hotel in Springdale. I think thats on the northside. Monday I will probably just find a pub and watch the football game. The reat of the week I want to try to get a couple jumps in. No jumpin down here since the storm. I will check out some of those places to eat and stuff also.

yep, north side. Luckily, there's a Graeter's ice cream shop in Springdale! http://www.graeters.com/viewCity.cfm?locID=14. It's close to the Tri-County Mall.

There's bound to be a Skyline around there, too.

Montgomery Inn is in two places, one in Montgomery (err, duh) and one down on the river called the mongomery Inn boathouse.

thouhg maybe you shouldn't try these things, because you may find yourself making excuses to go to Cincy just to buy ice cream...:S

Have fun!

OMG.

OMG.

Ben&Jerrys is to Graeter's as Big Lots is to Tiffanys.

Ben&Jerry's is a chain. Mass produced.

Graeter's is made in the store by a different method... www.graeters.com

It's absolutely incredible.

Ask anyone in or from Cincy...they'll tell you.

Graeter's is the bomb... (oh and I'm from Cincy, or at least went to school there...)

Lets see here... Penn Station Subs has the BEST resturant lemonade I've ever had (they make it with real lemons and everything) they're Sandwich's aren't bad either.

Check out Barrel House Brewery - Their Greek Pizza is very good and they are an awesome microbrewery.

if you need directions PM me and I can probably scrounge something up.

Montgomery Inn its a restuant (there's one on the river and one north east of cincinnati) has very good ribs...

This is a good time of year to be in Cincinnati... the weather isn't too hot or too cool...

You must must must try Graeters. I recommend the black raspberry chip, but any of the chip flavors are good. Sometimes you get a huge chunk of chocolate. I used to work there in high school. Good stuff

I'm going to have to check this place out. I am an ice cream junkie so this should fit right in. Thanks for the input. my gear is coming with and I will try to get a couple of jumps in the afternoon probably over in Rickmond.

My friend (skyjenb) lives in Cincy and says she'll make some time in her busy schedule to show you around, if you're hot and single. :P If you're interested, PM her a better pic and your number. I'm writing on her behalf b/c she won't have internet access until tomorrow morning when she gets to work...

Hope you have a good time. Let me know how you like the ice cream! B|

Finally, how does Graetrs compare to italian style gelato? (give me gelato or give me death)

There was a Gelato place in Savanah that was great... but its nothing compared to Greater's :P

Greater's is a french pot ice cream... fwiw...
