dmcoco84 5 #1 September 8, 2005 I'm looking to go out to Twin Falls in a few weeks and I am trying to find the best prices for plane tickets. What else is there besides PriceLine and Travelosity? Which seams to be the cheapest?? Thanks David

davedlg 0 #3 September 8, 2005 Lately, I have found that it is best to check all the regular sites ie. travelocity, orbitz, expedia, etc and find the airline and flights that are the cheapest, then go to the specific airline's website and book the ticket through them. This is usually $5-$10 cheaper and often you get additional benefits such as double frequent flier miles and such.

gravitational 0 #6 September 8, 2005 QuoteI've generaly found Orbitz to be the cheapest, but check priceline. It's a crapshoot. I've seen the opposite, but there are way to many factors involved to say 'go here over there'. Shop them all and go with what you see is the best. Most of the direct airline sites will beat the prices you find on the travel sites anyway.------ Michael
gravitational 0 #7 September 8, 2005 Quotecheck in the early hours of the morning you can get some awesome deals then I *think* the best prices are just after midnight on Tuesdays (overnight Tuesday/Wednesday). Thats generally when the prices are updated by the airlines unless there are other factors involved during the week.------ Michael

Guest 1010 #9 September 8, 2005 Sometimes deleting the cookies from your computer will get you a better price. Some of the big sites (expedia, orbitz etc) give newbies a good deal that returning customers don't know they aren't getting. You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two. jumpjunkie2004 0 #11 September 8, 2005 When I am researching airfare, I do all of the big name sites, Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. Then, I go to the individual airline sites. Once I've found the best fare online, I call the airline to see if it is their best fare. Sometimes, the fares online are better than the fares you will get if you call and vice versa. Today, I managed to get a better fare from BWI to San Antonio by going to Southwest Airlines web-site. I called to check the fare and they wanted to charge me an extra $70 for two tickets. I went back and got them online. If you have flexibility, check alternate dates. You never know when the airline is going to be running a promotion. Good luck!Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat... NWFlyer 2 #13 September 9, 2005 Other tips - sign up for the airlines' weekly web specials email list... usually they come out on Wednesday for the upcoming weekend. If you have an itinerary you take frequently, sign up for Travelocity's Farewatcher service to alert you when the fare goes down (you can set it to alert you when it goes down by a certain amount or goes down to a certain price)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
