Do you have COOL neighbors, SHITTY neighbors, or CREEPY neighbors?

Recommended Posts

-So do your neighbors stop by with a rack of beer when you throw a party, or call the cops? Have you ever SEEN your nighbors, or do they hide in the basement all day (think "The 'Burbs")

Do you have to keep your BBQ grill & bicycles/etc inside for fear of someone stealing them? >:(

Do you see your neighbor drinking a brew on their porch and go join 'em?

Do your neighbors kids play in the back yard with your lil' ones?

Does your neighbor lend you their ladder when they see you struggling to reach your gutter?

Do your neighbors call the homeowner's association on you if you paint your doghouse a 'substandard' color? :S

What are your neighbors like?

Ours are for the most part pretty cool. Our neighbors next door and across the street always bring food and brew to our parties or BBQ's, and we can all tuck our lil' ones in bed, then get drunk and play poker the rest of the night! :D

How 'bout yours?

I have AWESOME neighbors. We're all the original owners of townhouses in a 4-townhouse complex in a vibrant city neighborhood. (Well, one just sold her place and I haven't met the new folks... hope they're as cool.)

Here's how cool my neighbors are. One couple (affectionately known as "the fabulous gay neighbors") have both worked professionally as landscape architects. When they moved in together here, they lamented the loss of lots of acreage to plant and grow stuff. So, when I put in my patio (they helped me to design it) they said "Do you want us to do the planting around it? We're happy to - it's more for us to play with, just pay us for the plants (wholesale prices, of course)." Of course I took them up on the offer. I don't have a few crappy plants, I have a gorgeous, landscaped urban oasis around my patio (photo attached). They also worked on the parking strip out in front of the road (common area to our townhouses). In short, they rock. I try to repay them as I can for all the work, having them over for dinner or bringing a bottle of wine, but they constantly reassure me "we *want* to do this!"

Then there's my other neighbors. A couple in their 50s, downsizing their lives after getting their kids out of the house. They're constantly having "patio parties" or "come over for dessert" nights. The husband can help me fix ANYTHING.

The neighbor who just moved was cool and quiet ... she traveled a lot so I didn't see her much, but never had any issues with her at all.

Both remaining sets of neighbors will gladly grab my mail and keep an eye on the place when I'm gone. They're also much more up on the general neighborhood gossip than I... so I can stay in tune with everything that's going on and through them I've met many of the others on our street.

I'm very fortunate... it's the first place I've lived (since I moved out of my parents' house, anyway) where I have gotten to know my neighbors so well.

That's because they are all re-building Palm(TM) PDA's and inserting microchips used to control the human mind before selling them back to 'refurbished' manufacturers.

Creepy. :|

LOL...my neighbors are fine for the most part except for when I found out that one lady was watching my every move!

To answer your questions:

We're not allowed to keep anything outside because of the HOA rules, so there's no need to worry about something getting stolen. Same thing about painting a doghouse because they're not allowed either.

No one has a front porch. It's too hot to sit outside anyway.

There's one boy who wanders down to play basketball with my son, but for the most part the kids are too busy to "play" anymore now that they are teens.

I haven't had any problem getting the men of the neighborhood to help me the few times I've asked. ;)

My next door neighbors are a little quirky. They are a young couple that aren't married. She drives a Honda Civic (about a 1999/2000 model) and it has been painted (hand painted with flowers and stuff all down the side and hood). The car is teal green, but she has purple and pink flowers painted all over it. She works at Taco Bell and he doesn't work. They are good people that have been dealt a tough hand. She doesn't have her high school diploma or GED. We talked about that on Friday and I told her if she enrolled in a GED class that I would help her with her Math. She has a lot of motivation and she really is a beautiful girl with great potential. The guy is always mowing our lawn and he cut up a tree that fell near our apt. He seems to try really hard also, but he's not quite all there.

Anyway, we talk whenever we see each other. I really hope to see them make it.

That's cool, Krisanne! I don't remember seeing the patio when I was over at your place...then again, we were just bummin' around talking inside...:P

VERY beautiful. Karen wants me to call one of those TV shows that does that stuff and have them make me an 'oasis' in the back yard somewhere.

My neighbors on one side are ok... they are a cute little family with two kids and a dog... but they probably don't like us because we are weird and have the occasional wild party. :) The neighbors on the other side are a bit annoying though... they seem to have about 50 people living there, with children outside screaming at any given time of the day... and they regularly park two cars in front of our house - I've counted about 10 cars that seem to belong to them that are parked all over our street... I've actually been thinking about contacting the city about them because I'm pretty sure they are violating a city ordinance, but I don't really want to be an asshole...

I've got a mixture of neighbors. To my west, Lance is pretty cool. He runs a non-profiut for at risk kids. The only problem is his son is at risk for getting my foot up his ass if he doesn't turn the bass down in his car when he comes and goes. Other than that, he's a great guy.

The neighbors to my west are cool, too. I met them once - a couple of weeks ago, and they had no idea anybody moved in. Silent neighbors are cool neighbors.

The neighbors to the southeast (backyard) are cool, too. They actually dropped by some cookies last night for the hell of it. Good folk.

The neighbor to the south and southwest is a fucking peeping tom. He's gotten better since I had a word with him about a month ago, but he's starting to get comfortable looking over the fence to see what's goign on. Next time I see it, I'm gonna drop trousers and give him something fat and white to look at.

All my neighbors are a$$holes.
I live on the dz.

:D:D

I used to have strange neighbors when we lived in an apartment. Next door were freaks. We said 'Hi!' and tried to introduce ourselves, as they had a little child (I can't remember if it was a boy or girl, that's how much the child was out when we were out) about our daughter's age -3 years old back then. -They would stare at us and walk away!!! :D

The one time my hubby came home at the same time the chick was at her front door, he said "Hi! We're Joe and Jaye, what're your names?" :)
:| Life-mate. Ok. We have Clingons in the apartments. :P

They didn't let their kid play with our kids. Any time our babies were out on the common grass, they would pull their kid in urgently. I think they thought that he/she would 'catch' learning delay from our boys or something...:S

They had some other just psycho tendencies...I am so glad that we moved, and I'm sure they are too...

Seems that way here around my home too. Well, there's only one house within view of mine, directly across the street. All the rest are hidden by trees and take a few minutes to walk over to. Nice to have all that elbow room. B|

My neighbors are very cool considering I live in an apt complex. Dogs play together, kids play together everyone says high to one another.

Only problem is the property manager, not sure if she is just a bitch or if it's cause she is from the east coast but she will come out and give us hell for congregating in non-commons areas meaning the pool or dog run area. She has made it very uncomfortable for me and my neighbors so now we sneak to the back sides of the buildings so she can't see us chatting or the kids playing. :S After living here 4 years I'm moving out next May and when I turn in my 30 day notice I will be documenting her rude behavior and state that she is the reason I'm leaving and send that to the property management company that she works for. I'm not doing it now because she can make life very difficult if she wants to.

Hi Acme

We have great neighbors:)

They don't sell drugs

Cut their lawn twice a week

And even wax their roof gutters:o.

They are "Interesting" folks. And we have a double fence between us. Everyone has neigbor's, some better than others. Ours leave us alone and we do like wise.

Not the best situation but could be a lot worse.

R.I.P.

We are very fortunate.. A single Older woman who is a HS math teacher in our district lives to the north of us. I help her with yard work, or clear the snow from her driveway in the winter,,, and in return, she "let's me help her with yard work and clear the snow from her driveway in the winter" :P;)
hahaha.. actually she bakes pies and breads and gives them to us from time to time.
The folks to the south are soooo nice... they've been there about 15 years. they have 3 kids close in age to ours, so the kids were alll schoolmates. The Mom is pleasant helpful and often calls to see if we "need anything at the store"... The Guy mows the lawn and has a beer from time to time, he's a big sports fan and always says hello....
I often say,,,,
"they are our neighbors by Chance and our friends by Choice" :ph34r:B|;)
The area behind the house is a public county park and is wooded and serene. It's as if our back yard simply extends into the park lands (although there is a chain link fence) and seems to be our own private little forest... The county Zoo is in the park to the south of Us... NOW work has begun to build the new African Elephant Barn and exhibit area... directly behind our home... Just down a steep hill from our yard. The zoo has 2 Growing Females, one of whom will deliver a calf in March of 2006... so the 3 of them will be our new neighbors.
:oB|.. Cool... African Elephants.. I'm going shopping for a good zoom lens for my Nikon D70s........;):)
