riddler 0 #8 September 3, 2005 Quote4th...99 Nissan Altima...now Medic's car Wait - are you saying that if guys get married, we can get a free car out of it? If I'd known that, I'd have married a few times by now. '82 F-150 - mom's car. Semi hit me. Totaled. '93 Chevy Spectrum. Mom gave me. I drove the crap out of that thing - was pretty reliable. Traded for: '99 F-150. Still have it. Still love it. Needs some work. '95 Gulfstream Sunvoyager. What can I say? It's my house on wheels. Handles great, poor gas mileage. Ford Chassis - some electrical problems. Transmission is touchy. Next car will probably be a small, easily towable, good gas mileage car. I've driven a lot of cars and rented (long term) a lot of cars. I like Fords. Don't know why - they just work well for me. Cars I've rented, just this year: 2005 Chrysler 300M - Motortrends car of the year, rented for one month. What a piece of shit! I've never seen a new car with more manufacturing defects. Defective brakes. Defective exhaust manifold. Engine stalls periodically. Looks great, good turning radius, big engine. Everything else sucks. My neighbor, the president of the Colorado Auto Dealer's Association, got a free one of these - top of the line. He's already had some problems with it. 2005 Dodge Stratus, rented one month - OK car. Pretty zippy. Touchy on brakes. Not very comfortable seats. 2004 Dodge Durango, rented 3 weeks. Nice car! Very fun to drive. Pretty bad gas mileage, but I had a blast sucking down that gas. 2005 Nissan XTerra, rented one month - This turd was reminiscant of crappy 70's japanese cars, not the nice ones you see today. Felt like driving a toy. Lawnmower engine, cheap plastic interior. Every time I stepped into it, I thought "o no! Godzirra!" 2005 Ford Taurus, rented one month. Best car I've ever rented. Reliable, comfortable, not flashy.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Bodyflight.Net 0 #10 September 3, 2005 QuoteI like Fords. Don't know why - they just work well for me. Cars I've rented, just this year: I'm very happy with my fords as well.. the only other type I would consider is a subaru.. Fords are predictable.. in my experience an alternater around 110K, newer ones with a tranny repair around 150k depending on how you drive it.. and I love the horsepower.. couldn't live without it in such a sturdy vehicle, and to drive to 100K without a concern is worth the price to me! The motor should last to 300K if you take care of it.. what more could anyone want? I think if I owned a subaru I wouldn't worry about any repairs until over 150k.. that isn't worth the extra price for me yet.. but here in the mtns, 4 wheel drive would be nice, it will be the next on my list.. gravitational 0 #20 September 4, 2005 1st 1980 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Diesel Station Wagon $1000 - and it was still cramped with all my friends. 2nd 1973 Buick Century 350 4 barrel V8. Got this one from a little old lady in 1987. She bought it new in 1973 and had very carefully peeled off the window sticker and left it in the glove box. Original sticker was $2990, I bought 17 years later for $1000. It had just over 10k miles on it and had all of the records from oil changes etc. that were done religiously every 3 months (since she never put 3k miles on it). It was a fun car to beat the Iroc Z's at the time with. 3rd 1987 Chevrolet Spectrum $6000 - I needed to cool my jets after the Buick. Got this one when I was working at a Chevrolet dealership. 4th 1991 Buick Skylark - It was my Dad's company car that he was offered when it hit 40k miles. I was in need and it was a deal at $5k. 5th 2002 Chevrolet S-10 - didn't like this one, don't recall how much I paid either. only put 7k miles on it. 6th 2003 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab $18k Had fun with this one and added a fiberglass tonneau cover with a sport wing. Hey, it was a sportscar with a big trunk. 7th 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5i $25k - Best hill climbing vehicle I've ever driven in the mountain. Hands down. Wanna race? 8th 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT $29k - Just got this one and like it (when I'm not at the pump filling it up). Got it during the Chevrolet employee plan. Didn't think it was a bad deal since the sticker said $38k. Motorcycles 1985 Honda Shadow - Was nice to ride back and forth to work and get out in the mountains at times. 2005 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 - My play toy. Nice to get out on when I need a break from a stressful day.------ Michael
gravitational 0 #21 September 4, 2005 QuoteCars I've rented, just this year: All 2005's Pontiac Matrix - I'm way too old for this thing Ford Escapes - pretty much all versions of it. Was looking at buying one, but just couldn't put my finger on why I didn't like it - so I kept getting another one. Chevy Trailblazer - The longer version. This one I liked the best out of all that I got, guess that's why I bought one. Toyota Highlander - This this is peppy...Very peppy. Oldsmobile Alero - fun one to drive Subaru Outback - Automatic. Ended up buying one of these too, albeit without the Automatic. The auto is a dog in the mountains, the stick is very peppy. How many hills can I climb out here and not be going 90 in 5th gear at the top? I had a few others in here too, but I'd have to look at all my expense reports to figure out what I had.------ Michael
