I live in Alaska. The gasoline I use in my truck was taken from the ground here in Alaska and refined here in Alaska. Gas went up 12 cents/gallon yesterday.

Some of the price hike is justified.... a lot of it, if not all of the price hike in Alaska, is gouging.

Prices are set in the commodity futures markets. it doesn't make much difference where you live.

If one side of the continent has a bumper crop in grain, and the other side has a drought, the price of a bushel of grain is somewhere in between.

To try and keep the thread on topic, about whining about the price of gas meanwhile people are dieing by the minute for lack of water, medical attention etc, I'll address the username slug.
