Yep. I caught that right away, since I bought a new GT in 90, and was pissed when they killed the line for the Sunfire, which, IMO, is a major piece of shit.

I dont know anything about any bench warrant, they usually hold up your registration if you have parking tickets. They dont issue warrants over parking tickets, but they will tow your car if you have five outstanding, youre in a public parking spot, and you get another.
For some reason they never held up registraton on the old car. The old car was out of state when I started the registration process, maybe that had something to do with it.

They can still catch up with you. It may take them a while, and you might think you're in the clear. Then you'll go to buy a new home or something, and there will be a judgement on your credit report. Or you'll get pulled over for speeding and find out your license was suspended over unpaid parking tickets. It happens!

Someone told me they put in on your credit report, my guess is its probably there. The only warnings Ive ever gotten were from LA saying if my car were ever found in LA they are going to tow it.
What I have to wonder about is if they run the new plates on the car, the info would ofcourse go back to me and the tickets might show up. If that happened I *guess* they would tow the new car. I dont know.
Anyone in California know about this?

Good advice. It happened to me. He needs to clear this up, before it causes worse problems.
I had a problem once where I received a ticket, and the cop wrote on the back to send in $50 to pay for it. So I did. And forgot about it.
Then about a year later I got pulled over again, and the cop said I had an outstanding unpaid ticket, confiscated my license, and would have arrested me, except for the fact that I had a carload of kids on a fishing trip.
It turns out, the fine for the first ticket was actually $75, so the cop told me the wrong amount. The computer still showed it as outstanding, since I had paid only $50. They never bothered to tell me I owed more money. That was like a time bomb just waiting to put me in jail, for the next time I got pulled over.
Pay those tickets off, and get written verification of it.

Kinda like that in WI. Here it's not on the car, it ends up being on the owner. Get the registration pulled on ONE car, and it's linked to your name. Next thing you know you can't renew, or register anything new, until it's paid.
