FrEaK_aCcIdEnT 0 #2 August 29, 2005 i have a power pro xtl. its one of the old ones. I forget what the new one is called. It is great for toning up and sheding some body fat. I was using it more for the muscle gain. but im a skinny FrEaK so i got a lil stronger but didnt add any weight no matter what i ate. i need to start using t again. I havnt touched it in months. poor thing is just sitting there begging for a few reps lol edit: oh yea, they had some recall issues so check with bowflex to see what they have recalled on the paticular model b4 u buy it. u want to make sure the recall stuff has been installed. I got a new locking mechanism for the bottom and also a new brace system for the bench. I also got another thicker brace for the lat tower bar. just make sure that what ever model u end up getting has all of the recall stuff worked out. good luck in ur search! ExPeCt ThE uNeXpEcTeD! Derekbox 0 #3 August 29, 2005 before I decided fat was effective wingloading and much easier to carry than weight belts, I looked into buying one. Look on ebay. When I was looking I found several in my area for dirt cheap.
TheAnvil 0 #4 August 29, 2005 Stick with swimming, running, and bodyweight exercises. It's cheaper. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

TALONSKY 0 #6 August 29, 2005 I own a bow flex. I also go to the gym regularly so I honestly prefer free weights at the gym. That aside I think the bow flex is the closest thing you will find to free weight in a home universal gym. I would say the only thing I dislike about them is at the beginning of the movement it is easier and at the end it is more difficult. Kirk
mdrejhon 8 #7 August 29, 2005 There's a good bodybuilding discussion site at www.bodybuilding.com ... It's the "dropzone.com" for the fitness world. Ask your question there, perhaps?
kingbunky 3 #8 August 29, 2005 thanks for the link, i found a thread on the bowflex, quite entertaining. kinda like here, someone asked a question about whether they were any good and if he could expect any results. he immediately got jumped on by people telling him he should get free weights, even though he said he wanted a bowflex because he didn't have room for free weights. other people jumped in and said that if you actually use the machine and watch your diet, you will get results. the first bunch jumped in again and told them they didn't know what they were talking about, even though the supporters were people that had used them and the nay sayers had never been near one. kinda like belly flyers vs. free flyers, only much less civilized. TALONSKY 0 #10 August 29, 2005 When I work out on the bowflex I will work out to the same intensity that I do at the gym(in respect to weights , reps, mucsle failure and time between sets) but I am never sore the next day after using the bowflex like I will be from going to the gym. The only thing I can think of is that at the beginning of the movements it is less weight than at the end. Kirk
FrEaK_aCcIdEnT 0 #11 August 29, 2005 i was just messing with you man i notice that if it has been a while since i work out then im zapped of all energy the next day and im sore as hell. get the same thing from the equipment at the gym. if i work to the routine that i have then the sorness passes and i just keep adding weight to suit my failure point. but its been about 2 years since ive even lifted a set of free weights. I got it cause i needed to go to failure to add muscle mass. doing that without a spotter on a bench is not smart ExPeCt ThE uNeXpEcTeD! DoNt MiNd ThE tYpOs, Im LaZy On CoRrEcTiOnS! TALONSKY 0 #12 August 29, 2005 I know you were just messing with me When I go to the gym I do not have a spotter either so I use dumb bells. If you get stuck you can just toss them off to the sides. I can't quite push for the max bench but I can come pretty close and still have safety in the fact I can just toss the weights to the side.
