Ncrowe 0 #2 August 28, 2005 Best part was when the woman shows her boobies in the hotel room "Don't Mess Around With the Guy in Shades- Oh No!!! "

happythoughts 0 #4 August 28, 2005 I was in the Florida Keys about a month ago. We had two people get back on the boat because the current on the granny line was too strong. I had to hand-over-hand down instead of dropping. When we were leaving, there was a guy who was 200 yds away from his boat when we picked him up. That's never good. ViperPilot 0 #5 August 28, 2005 And the even worse thing is that it's based on a true story.
Ncrowe 0 #6 August 28, 2005 It's based on a few different incidents that took place...but it's by no means a true story "Don't Mess Around With the Guy in Shades- Oh No!!! "

grue 1 #9 August 28, 2005 Quote It's based on a few different incidents that took place...but it's by no means a true story It's mostly based on what happened to the Longergans, a couple from America (teachers, I think) visiting the Great Barrier Reef. As I was living in Sydney at the time, it was biiiiig news down there. EDIT: And yeah, the girl in the film is gorgeous. Just my type cavete terrae. ViperPilot 0 #11 August 28, 2005 I'm pretty sure it's based off a true story...I read somewhere that it was about some couple on a honeymoon that really had this happen to them. Edit: Oops, well I guess Grue got to it first
bobsled92 0 #12 August 28, 2005 I started Diving in '91 night dives still freak me out and I feel very volnerable. as well as worried of my lights attracting the wrong things. Fla coast at night is when the predators move towards shore to feed. (It's my phobia & BEFORE that movie came out) I don't know why I got talked into night surfing in Cali. lisamariewillbe 1 #14 August 28, 2005 Quotebased on a true story The only part of this movie that is based on reality is up until they get in the water. Since they are not around to finish the story for us. Same with that movie the perfect storm. Jeesh if there are no survivors then how do we know they didnt set their deaths all up to avoid taxes or something... but it was a great movie, very scarey, since I cant swim and hate waterSudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
tumbler 0 #15 August 28, 2005 Very true Lisa... and I didnt think it was all that scary.. just kinda haunting. One of those movies I cant stop thinking about. Of course we will never really know what happened, but I bet it was even worse than the movie spelled out.
lisamariewillbe 1 #16 August 28, 2005 my biggest fear surrounds water and the beast within, mostly because I dont swim, cant swim and I am to old to learn... uh at least I am to old to want to learn... What scared me also in this movies is the extras... if you watch you find out the actors were really in the water with those sharks ...Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
kelpdiver 2 #17 August 28, 2005 Quote I don't know why I got talked into night surfing in Cali. (young and dumb I guess) I'm not aware of a single night attack on a surfer in California. As it stands, there may be one or two per year period. You're much more at risk of drowning at night. I found Open Water more hilarious. The fighting between the two, the absurdity of their situation, and how they handled it. I was laughing a lot. Not very similar to the GBR story it was based on. JohnRich 4 #19 August 28, 2005 Quoteit's by no means a true story Just because some elements are fictionalized, does not mean that the basic story line didn't happen. If you set that as the standard, then no movie ever made is a true story. And that would be a ridiculous thing to say. Yes, they made some presumptions about their fate. But scuba divers are sometimes left at sea accidentally. And the movie even showed in detail how the passenger count on the boat was tallied incorrectly.
