grue 1 #1 August 27, 2005 Accounting for inflation if you're an old timer (Calculator: http://www.westegg.com/inflation/!), how much did everything involved with getting your "A" cost you? FJC, jumps, rentals, USPA fees, licence fee. If you bought geat on student status, don't count that! For me: FJC - $165 4 more static lines to get to freefall, 1 for recurrency after winter - $40/each ($200) 19 freefalls, with gear rental: $25/each ($475) USPA membership fee: $52 Licence fee: $20 Total: $912cavete terrae. swedishcelt 0 #5 August 27, 2005 Well... I started last summer and not counting tandems and tunnel time I paid about $735.00 then had to quit and this year about $600.00 so far before I broke my leg. Now then add the broken ankle and physical therapy on top of that and... it gets a bit up there.

Total from FJC to A, $829.00 + USPA $39 Member fee + $10 A fee (again, IIRC) should be around $878. For sure was under $900. It's your life, live it! But, it took me over a year to get that done. jimmytavino 16 #10 August 27, 2005 I am afraid that alot of people will hate me for this but...... 1st jump course, gear and lift ticket,,, ( static line) 50 dollars 4 more static lines at 10 dollars each ... 40 dollars First freefall,,, (jump # 6 ) Six dollars.... so.. for 96 bucks.. I am freefalling.... The next 20 jumps or so..... 3- 5 dollars each..... ... that's 100 more.......give or take Of course none of them were from above 5,500 feet AGL... but I did qualify for and received USPA A license # 3914...... and it only cost me approx. 196 $$$ in lift tickets... ( fact is.. I was packing cheapos soon after I started, and "earned". most of the money I was spending on lifts...) I was lucky to be at a college which had a Skydiving Club... the Club had 5 or 6 used static line rigs 28 foot cheapos and T -10s ,, and 3 or 4 PC / Papillon rigs... which were available at NO charge......... I think I might have sent in 15 or 20 dollars to pay for the lic. and USPA membership so figure 226 dollars, cash...........give or take. Of course it was in '72 and the trade off was,,,, no long freefalls.... and NO RW.... I had over 50 jumps before I ever did a 30 second delay... (we had a good number of club members and sending the plane much higher than 5,500 feet took too much time) besides back then,, for me ,,, anyway.. it was mostly about the parachuting.... I really took to shooting accuracy, ( Of course , I quickly learned that alititude IS where it's at....and started building freefall time..) jmy A 3914 D12122 scr scs nscr 4 stack 930 team member world record night POPS RW formation...
