Ashtanga 0 #2 August 24, 2005 Check the level of oil through the viewing glass meter on the side of the oil tank area.
Brian425 0 #3 August 24, 2005 And make sure the bike is off and on level ground and you hold it straight up (not on the kickstand). Or there may be a metal rod (dipstick) on the oil cap. In which case, do all the leve ground stuff and check with the dipstick. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand. WatchYourStep 0 #4 August 24, 2005 Check out http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/service/viewmanuals/sport_manuals.aspx This is Yamaha's site that will allow you to find the owner manual based on the year and size of your bike. That's the only way to know how to correctly check the oil. Some bikes want you to check it while the bike is straight up others you do when it's on the kickstand. Go with the manual and you can't go wrong. Edit for clicky "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. skycat 0 #7 August 24, 2005 I used to have an FZR600R and to check it you have to hold the bike level. I beleive the oil tank is on the right hand side and towards the bottom is a round window. My rule of thumb was half way up the window or higher is good, but I can't remember if there were marks on it to tell you what was good or not. Just remember you have to wait about 15 minutes after riding before checking it so the oil has time to settle, if you haven't been riding then just go ahead and check it.Fly it like you stole it! Beerlight 0 #11 August 24, 2005 Wanna hijack for a minute. I looked over a 2005 FZ1 today.....drool formed.... Anybody have any negatives/positives for this bike...?? Thanks, Buck
uponone 0 #12 August 24, 2005 Quote87 jap import Sorry man, I don't have any info on that because it's an import. The smallest FZR the states ever saw was a 400. Do a google search on the internet or contact yamaha customer service and see if you can order an owners manual....if you don't want to do that then on your case cover on one side it should say a #c3 or #cc. That is the oil amount to put in, there is roughly 900cc's in a quart so if it says 2700c3 or 2700cc's on the case it needs 3 quarts.

Thanks, Buck That is the most high performance "comfy" bike you can buy. It's a tuned down, carburated, R1 engine. It's been voted the best naked bike like 3 years in a row. If you want a fast, light, nimble bike but don't want to sacrifice comfort than that is definitely the bike for you. If you want the fastest, lightest, latest & greatest get the R1

Better then I'd sell it to you for, but then again I'm in Cali and everything is more expensive here.
ducatigirl996 0 #17 August 25, 2005 I dont think on the 250 you can check on the oil. You have to fully change it and then watch how the puppie runs looking for any leaks... but what do I know I have been drinking all day! Beerlight 0 #18 August 25, 2005 Yep, it's $9100 with TT &L. Plus, I'm sure I'll talk him off that price also...... Bike sales have slowed down in Houston.......
