I've traveled a reasonable amount with my phone and its worked great. Okay, it was really because we needed a service that had free mobile-to-mobile service because we call each other the most. Another requirement was that it had to work in Canada. I don't think we have roaming charges, either. I have been very happy with them. It really depends on where you live and spend most of your time. My Cingular phone works at EVERY DZ I have been to except for the farm. Worked in every airport I went to except JFK too. OK.........so it's crappy at the Delta gates at Dulles but it works more places than most people's phones. So........Cingular is my vote. Yup, phones aren't the best ones on the market, they have tons of coverage and rarely any issues with it. IN calling, mobile to moble, free weekends (just like all carriers out there now). Whatever problems i've had with billing issues, etc. I've gotten the people at the store or customer service to give me a monetary credit to my account, in some cases working out to 1.5 mths free. Thinks to be aware of: -If you go to a retail vendor store see how you like the employees when you are talking with them about plans and phones. if you don't like them go to the next store for that carrier. -The sales people are on commission, you can negotiate a bit. -They do provide 'switching credits' if you were another carrier and can apply to anything, not just the phone(like they say) - If they give you a hard time with the negotiating bit, just mention "well what makes me want to purchase this through you vs another store or online".. I use my phone all over the country, even in the middle of the desert in Moab. No extra charge. I talk free to other verizon customers all the time.
