Guest #5 August 13, 2005 Jah, I sure miss Duke Tomato... mh Edit to add: This year, I wanted to see more of a "Rantoul Unplugged" kind of atmosphere, some of which I found at the Hellfish tent; a cozier and more intimate atmosphere than in the main tent that made me feel like the entertainment was just for me. I don't dig mass entertainment; it has to be very, very good to make me pay it any notice. Something is lost in a big venue that I find disquieting. In the Hellfish tent last weekend, there was a very skilled picker who led us in bawdy sing-alongs and touching sentimental tunes, and since deafening decibels were conspicuously absent, we were free to applaud or boo as it suited us. "Rantoul Unplugged" should be a campaign for next year, but NOT because of the Simmons Maxim (id est - Gene Simmons of the rock act Kiss once remarked "If it's too loud, you're too old."), but because classy music NEEDN'T be loud... ...it doesn't have to be. mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
jetchick 0 #9 August 16, 2005 We are going to amp the daytime selections next year with an MP3 - as far as Duke goes, nobody showed him the rockin support like in years past, so he said 'no' to 2005. But if you checked out Gumbohead and Smash Band, then you would have been dancing all night with the best of us.
