tex08 0 #1 August 31, 2008 I am new to this sport and would like to know if there are any retail stores or large DZ's in the U.S. that offer a large selection of in stock skydiving equipment?
AggieDave 6 #2 August 31, 2008 Sure, there are a number of stores that have many items in stock ready to go. However, since a large majority of skydivers buy custom gear when buying new, its relatively moot. What, exactly, are you looking to buy? Also, have you checked your local DZ's gear shop? Many items like goggles, helmets, etc can be found there. As for complete rigs, mains, reserves, RSL, AAD and other discussions, a quick search will find you a wealth of information. Good luck! I see you're in TX, but where do you jump?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
tex08 0 #3 August 31, 2008 Hey AggieDave, any places in Texas that stock a good selection of helmets? Been jumping San Marcos which I enjoy
AggieDave 6 #4 August 31, 2008 Trent, at Spaceland, typically has a handful of popular helmets. So does the gear store at SD Dallas (last time I was there). Todd at Aggieland has a couple. I think Todd at Houston may have a couple as well. I would assume that SD San Marcos has a selection as well, but its been a while and my memory is hazy. If you're just wanting to try on helmets and look at them, ask around your DZ for the helmet(s) you're wanting to look at. That's what I've always tended to do, "Hey cool helmet, what kind is it? What size is it? Can I try it on, etc." SD San Marcos has a lot of cool jumpers, that approach should work well for you. That's it for Texas as far as I know. Although each DZ typically has a small selection of random stuff. There are larger retail stores in the US with a decent sized stock, but none of them are in Texas. Look towards the two coasts and AZ for that.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
