And this thing has been around since the 1800's, and still it hasn't caught on? Uh, move on, ain't gonna happen!! Well, English has been around in the US for longer than that, and still hasn't caught on either! Whatchu talkin' 'bout frog legs?? jimbarry 0 #52 August 9, 2005 QuoteIt's Esperanto. I think it says "I jump because perfectly good airplanes do not exist" but I'm not sure that "airplane" is the right translation of "avioj" (I thought that airplanes was "aeroplanoj"), but, given the context and it's similarity to the Esperanto word for aviation (aviado), I took a guess. Good catch. And airplane is either avio or aeroplano. Although I gotta give some points to acme's 'perfect boobies' try, no doubt...

jimbarry 0 #54 August 9, 2005 QuoteOk WHAT THE HELL IS ESPERANTO?? And with Google at your fingertips even... QuoteEdit Ok I looked it up. That's el-stupido. I guess it's better to subject the world to English with its vocab full of redundancy, dozen different ways to pronounce each vowel, verb exceptions which boggle the mind, leaving one to basically memorize every word. Think about a 'spelling bee' for a moment... Quote Sorry, it's just that trying to make the world learn one language? Naw. It was (is) an attempt to make a politically and socially neutral second language, rather than the way languages continue to be pushed around through economic, cultural, and military imperialism. QuoteAnd this thing has been around since the 1800's, and still it hasn't caught on? Uh, move on, ain't gonna happen!! And it could take a few more decades or even centuries. Still might catch. Until then, just a hobby. And a noble attempt at helping provide one tool toward world peace and mutual respect. Oops, I'm hijacking. Back to sig lines, sorry 'bout that... ACMESkydiver 0 #55 August 9, 2005 Quote And a noble attempt at helping provide one tool toward world peace and mutual respect. Y'know the rest of the world is just a tad busy with war and famine and little stuff like that to worry about a new 'happy' language. And remember, language is a major part of a country's heritage. That's kind of like saying they aren't worth getting to know. We don't need to be a homognenized world; that would suck. Language is beauty. Sure, I'll give them an 'A' for effort, for working on something that is not a priority to those they feel they are trying to help. Way ta go. I will not hijack my own thread. I will not hijack my own thread. I will not hijack my own thread. New fav sig line!
