Brian425 0 #1 July 31, 2005 I just wanted to give a big thank you to the oldtimers out there. This weekend, I decided that I need to really start to work on my RW skills. I asked at manifest who would be good to jump with and learn. They get me Larry. Larry is a serious RW jumper with 20 years experience. He took me and another jumper up for a few jumps. He pulled in other experienced jumpers to jump with us and make the jumps fun. He was serious about learning and serious about having fun while we were doing it. He asked when I would be back and told me to grab him on Saturday mornings so he could jump with me or get me someone good to jump with. He asked for nothing; but, I put a jump on his account. It's a small gift compared to what he gave me. Thanks for taking the time to teach and letting me have fun. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand. popsjumper 2 #2 July 31, 2005 Good stuff...it's not many who think to thank the older fellas who help out in so many ways.My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
Brian425 0 #3 August 5, 2005 It's funny, you see how effortlessly they fly and it's amazing. It's really nice because it give me the motivation to go up and really work to be better. You'll be surprised how far a little encouragment and an occasional kick in the ass goes. Thanks!! The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand. Designer 0 #6 August 5, 2005 We used to do alot of 2 & 3 way training jumps for free.At one DZ we experienced jumpers gave up 1 weekend a month to do training jumps with the newbies and we were glad to do it(pay for our own jumps)One of my favorite jumps of all time was just such a jump at Z-Hills.TK asked be to do basically a 2-way coach jump with this guy from Norway(we were both very tall and thin).I looked at his video, planned a challenging 2-way and off we went.He was a little stiff out the door.Gave him the relax and Arch shake and we off and running on a cool jump.He did everything right.Best of all he said that was the most fun he had so far.I love that.It also was the only training jump I didn't pay for!Very cool! Brian425 0 #7 August 5, 2005 That work and family thing leave me with only a few hours on Saturday to jump. But, I am working on it. I'm hoping to do 3 jumps a week for the rest of the year. Maybe even sneak in a Sunday when the wife is not looking. No, no stupid stuff for me. I want to build a good rep on the DZ. So far the ask questions, listen to answers, APPLY answers, buy beer approach is working. Fruit loop??? HMMMM I need to look into this. Can we do it with a 4 way? Might have 2 extra this weekend.
