freeflyimpaired 0 #26 July 25, 2005 Quotewhy not make it a practice around your club to make a simple "I'm OK" call when you land by yourself away from the dz? After what happened last night that is an option I will seriously consider in the future. I'm sorry about your friend but like I said I didn't jump alone, there were people on the ground watching me exit the airplane and watching me land. Do you give all your family and friends a courtesy call at the end of every day jumping? If you knew me personally rather than assume your a better/safer skydiver you would have read that post and thought it was a good story. The fact is it was nothing more than a slight misunderstanding and I do appreciate the concern for my safety of whoever called the police. Joe. skymedic 0 #27 July 25, 2005 Joe in the future you really do need to not let us know the fun things in life for fear of being flamed....gotta love the bonfire. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....
Guest #28 July 25, 2005 ffi, tigra, IMHO this thread epitomizes the drawback of online communication ... around a real bonfire, I expect you'd both be chillin with some beers and this'd just be a little barely-memorable conversation in an evening ... here, seems more of a deal. I like real bonfires much better than online ones. Blues skies & large real bonfires You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.
popsjumper 2 #29 July 25, 2005 Funny as hell, Joe...maybe next time a call to the local police with prior warning would help (as per SIM Section 7-1 Advice and Approval). My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
kansasskydiver 0 #30 July 25, 2005 Joe, WTF were you thinking?!?!?! I didn't get a phone call and I've been worried sick about you! Granted it's taken 24 hours to work it through the grape vine, but my GOD, I was worried sick! hahahah just kidding. I agree with what you said, I know you personally and found the story funny, I also know everyone else up there so I see how it probably went. Glad they found you and yeah, I know all about the whuffo calling cops thing. We had a cutaway and went chasing after the main, someone was parked at the end of the runway and saw us peeling out to try to keep our eyes on it. Got back and there were firetrucks, ems and everything. Of course the guy who called it in wasn't there, but he told 911 that a skydiver went in without a chute See ya at freaks<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist! FlyboySMB 0 #31 July 25, 2005 We have done this type of jump many times before. The first thing I/we do is call the DZ with a status immediately after landing. If this does nothing else, it saves bandwidth on DZ.COM
