Subspace is an altered state of consciousness, one that varies from person to person but in which one’s awareness is altered dramatically. Some submissives become immersed in sensations, to the point that they become unaware of anything else (their environment, their identity, time); others shut off entirely, entering a trance state in which they are no longer conscious of their actions, experiences or surroundings. In any case, it is clear that subspace can be considered a sort of dissociated state. However, at least ideally, the nature of the change of consciousness is different from trauma-related dissociation....

which is also why many people experiment with drugs... you can find freefall without ever steping in an aircraft...

of course most things are better with a partner.. ;):)

Nice rope work on that 2nd pic.

ropes are FAAAR more esthetically and texturally interesting than any other form imo... even their removal creates additional sensation and a lovely transition as the skin recovers...

google 'shibari' or simply ask for a demonstration next time you see me.. :)

>please summarize

The thread immediately degenerated into veiled references to sex, people flirting with each other, R and X rated pictures, and guys asking women for personal assistance with their understanding of the subject in question. Business as usual in Bonfire in other words.

Bill, I think that this paragraph should be a sticky on the top of Bonfire entitled "What will happen when you post here." Similar to the one at the top of the Incidents forum, it will serve to educate those new in the ways of Bonfire. ;)

You should see some of Midori's work. Saw her do her thing at Leatherfest XI; she's amazing.

We have one of her books. She's amazing. She was doing a demo here at Madam S but I missed it. :(

I like to stick with the standard "yellow" & "red".

I laughed pretty hard when I was in Air Marshal training and the "safe word" for our role players was "Red." :D This guy wanted to be an asshole and NOT get up out of a seat. I told him flat out "I'm trying not to hurt you." He still didn't get up so I put him in a nice wrist lock and instantly he is yelling "RED RED RED RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That was the first time I had ever heard someone scream a safe word with absolutely NO sexual connotations. :D

To be serious for a second here, safewords don't always work with bottoms who go very far away. You have to bug them to see if they're OK, since they get sort of unresponsive. Since that either means they really like what's going on or they're unconscious, it can be hard to determine which it is quickly. Combine that with some bottoms who _do_ pass out after certain, uh, events, and you can have your hands full making sure they are OK.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled flirtations . . .

It might be a while until I see you, but please feel free to post some pics of your work. ;)

Also, I have noticed that engineer's really seem to be into rope work - is that just a coincidence? :P

very few pictures exist.. it is much more a thing of the moment, an intimate experience that only occurs once and so a photograph (no matter how esthetically pleasing to the eye) fails to capture the real essence...

but i would be breaking my word if i published the ones have taken, and keeping my word allows me all sorts of interesting opportunities i would otherwise miss.... ;)

as for the number of engineers, you may well be right... there is something about rather simple functions and the way they create complex and interesting patterns and results that is incredibly attractive at any level or field..

And it doesn't do a whole hell of a lot of good when the gag is properly secured, either! :P

So I am just wondering, if people become this far away from reality, do people die doing this?? It is definitely interesting to a point, but I dont know if I could relax enough without AIR to BREATHE that I could enjoy it without spazzing out.

It is neat to see how far people go though, I would defnitely be up for experimentation, just a ? of "how far is too far?"

That's why you keep an eye on them, have them snap their fingers, or, my favorite, the rubber cat toy balls with bells inside. If they drop it, it makes a racket and means stop.:)
