Are those Screamin Eagle slash-cut pipes? Did you add them or were they factory installed? BTW nice bike. Same color as my Fatboy. Are you planning on leaving it factory black, or going with a custom paint?

Those are Screamin Eagle Pro II slash cut mufflers.
They sound freakin awesome ;) Not street legal though. Too loud.
Not loud enough to attract unwanted attention from the boys in blue, though.
Just loud enough, but not crazy loud.

I also got the Screamin Eagle Pro Air cleaner and Breather, and a new EFI fuel map.
That makes up all of stage 1 and gave me about another 12 or so horsepower and 15 ft lbs of torque.
Can never have too much power.

I had them installed after the bike came in from the factory.
They did it at the dealership.

I'm keeping the color stock, I like that clean look. No bullshit.
All black and chrome B|
Gets dirty easily, but its worth the cleaning time:)

Man...you should have bought a Goldwing. The Honda Goldwing is one of the best touring bikes around not to mention the technology on a Honda is so much better. Dont get me wrong im not a Harley hater I own one. 2002 1200 Sportster Custom Chromed out to the max. Ive owned them all and for the price heck you just cant hardley beat a jap bike except for trade in thats about it. Harleys hold their resale value so much better is all. My friend rides his Goldwing all the time through Blueridge Parkway and Skyline drive from Front Royal VA to Cherokee NC south of Ashville through Maggie Vally. Some of the Best riding in the USA Beautiful Stuff man..

I don't think you can equate the Fatboy with a Goldwing as they are 2 different bikes. I would agree with you that had he purchased a bike for touring, a Golding might have been a better choice than an Electa-Glide or Road-Glide. But of course, then he would have had to start smoking a pipe. :D

Nice bike, love the paint.

I had a Harley for THREE days....84 Sportster. HATED it.

A friend had it for sale...He bought a new bike and wifey said one had to go so I got it for a steal....I hated it and sold it two days after I bought it.

Loud, vibrated like hell, and not comfertable.

Plus, I was 24 and felt stupid on it.

Edit...I think it was an 84, not an 88. But to be honest I don't remember.

If I could interject a question...

why did you(chris, steve, anyone) choose a fat boy over a softail heritage? I'm planning on getting a fat boy just before next season because I like that XXXL look to the fat boy, but the heritage seems like a very similar bike. what made you choose the way you did? Also, did you ever demo a V rod? I'm curious to get on it because I might like the power, but it'd suck to take on a long haul with a passenger, not to mention the 3.5 galloon tank is a little short.

Well, I am a sport bike fan and that is what I own... Ya I know...

But, I would say a definite improvement,:P:P:P and if I was not allowed to have a sport bike anymore, I would 100% take your new bike. Awesome! Love the style of the Fat Boys.

I have the best of both worlds, while still keeping it "Harley." I have a 2001 FLTR Road Glide and a '03 Buell XB9S. The latter is an incredibly scary bike to ride at wide open throttle.

Style.

The Fat Boy and The Heritage are the same except for some style points. The heritage has higher handlebars, it has saddlebags, a spoke front wheel (same size wheel though), a much larger front fender, passing lights alongside the main headlamp, and a full sized windshield.

Other than those features, they are exactly the same bike. Same chassis, same dimensions, same motor,
same suspension.

I chose the Fat Boy because I like the look better.
Its cleaner. Its BADDER! I like the solid front wheel.

I dont like the look of saddlebags, I REALLY dont like the huge front fender on the Heritage, I prefer a much smaller windshield, and I like the lower rise handlebars.

The funny thing about the Fat Boy is that guys will go out and buy them and then add saddlebags and a windshield, and get rid of the solid front wheel replacing it with a spoke wheel.

Tah dah! Theyve turned it into a Heritage!

:S:S:S

Hope that answer helps!
