eBay

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've viewed this site 1000 times and it seems like a legit way to purchase something for a lot less $$$.

Help! I'm scared:S:P. Any good tips so that I can assure I'm not ripped off?

Thank you so much!:)

It's a great place to find things if you can't find them anywhere else, but not necessarily for a lot less money. Popular items on ebay are not always the best deals. My number one tip. Be patient. Don't bid on the first item you see if there are 20 others just like it.

As far as not getting ripped off; Look at the sellers feedback rating. I feel a lot more comfortable buying from someone with a 500 feedback score with 99% positive, than from someone with a 10 feedback score and 100% positive.

Well, I don't know if I have the fastest way of bidding---I heard people have special systems (sorry for the uneducated computer lingo) that allow them to always win the last bid. I was looking more at the "Buy It Now" price, b/c I know what the items I'm looking at retail for and the "Buy It Now" price is still a great deal.

I've looked at the seller's feedback percent, but not the "500 feedback score", so I will be sure to look at that, as well.

i do a combination of ebay and these sites for what im looking for. i look for the best feedback with the lowest price with included shipping. i just got a battery for my pc105 for CHEAP!!! and it is a SONY battery. new in the package. i think i paid 40 for it with free shipping and its the largest one they have. the 9 hour one.

http://www.shopzilla.com/

on ebay i am a sniper bidder. i will watch an item till the last 1 sec. then hit send on my bid. i win 99% of the time and it doesnt jack up the price! but only after i have looked at all my sources. ebay isnt always cheapest!

edit: also on the 2 link make sure u sort them by PRICE, cause if u dont some companies pay a lil extra to put thier name and product at the top of the list even though they are not the lowest. and make it show the shipping next to the price. u can set ebay ut to do the same. good luck and do ur homework on the person u are purchasing from off of ebay. ive been burnt before with some Oakley sunglasses. fucker sold me fakes for 60 bucks and never herd from him again and didnt have buyers protection offered so i was screwed.....>:(

what is buyer's protection?

I'm paranoid about having my identity/credit stolen so I doubt I'd pay by PayPal since there's been some issues with that. I'd probably do cashier's check option.:P

buyers protection is the little shield that is usually up to 1000.00 in protection. and from my experience Paypal is safe. I use them for almost everything. My grandmother said she wouldnt ever use the internet to pay for anything and i got her on ebay. now she is a shopaholic and paypal is her friend. ;) always look for HIGH feedback. i look for 98%+ and then look at thier shipping terms. some people offer insurance and depending on what it is its worth it. I review comments and see how long its been since they have had a mishap and how it was resolved if it was resolved. just do ur homework and start out small. there are far more honest people on ebay than dishonest people... I stay away from new sellers with 0 feedback. that is how i was taken so i wont be buying from a 0 feedback again. I like to see at least 100+ with 100% and anything over 1000+ feedback with a 98% or better ratio.

Just make sure the seller is ok, with that... Many sellers (myself included when I sell stuff) will only accept paypal, because it's an instant verification of payment, I dont have to wait around for you to get a check, mail it to me, deposit it, etc...
