DougH 270 #3 October 20, 2008 It reminded me a little of the xf2. Flat glide, less dive, short recovery arc. It opened nice but I like something a little more aggressive. I don't know how you fly but it is a fully eleptical canopy and I don't think it is really marketed to lower experince jumpers."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
selwynj 0 #4 October 21, 2008 I did more than 700 jumps on Hurricanes of many sizes and the ones I jumped were very nice. Never chopped one. The wingloads were from 1.3 to 1.7.“It takes ten years to get ten years’ experience” Eric "tonto" Stephenson D515 PASA
Para5-0 0 #5 October 21, 2008 Hurricane Elliptical Canopy The Purest Elliptical in it's field. Know for it's consistently soft, on heading openings. Not Prone to spins like other ellipticals. Very solid airfoil - stable and predictable. Flatter glide than most other elliptical parachutes in it's range, giving it further reach. Known for it's long dives on front risers, snappy turns and quick response, with long fllat swoops. Powerful flare without the need for radical turns to generate lift.. After doing some research it appears to be manufactured in South Africa, and no I do not know every canopy out there, hence the research. I have found out it is an aggressive diving canopy that does in fact fall into the expert category defined by USPA. Requirring a D License and 500 jumps to purchase and/or fly. SimonBones 1 #6 October 21, 2008 I did a couple of jumps on a hurricane 135. I bought and put 500 jumps on a hurricane 120. Did some jumps on a hurrican 105. It's a great great canopy. Flies like a crossfire 2. The nose is open a bit more so it doesn't snivel anywhere near as long as a crossfire and generally has better heading performance. But it gives it a little more drag too. Has a recovery arc that is much steeper than a stilleto and much lower front riser pressure. It is a great canopy for learning to swoop on, much better than a stilleto. So really, it's pretty much comparable to a crossfire 2 with only the differences noted above. Oh, and if you buy one, try and get the water based ZP coating they used to use as opposed to the oil based ZP coating. Makes the canopy much much less slippery to pack when brand new.108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook
