A Home made metal match box with a strong magnet stuck under your car is a great place to keep a spare key.
After getting skaned for $55 to open my car in seconds I decided to get a little metal box and a magnet.
Cost me $2.50.
Now I have no probs

I keep a spare key in a key box in the back of my truck just for that reason.
I had to break into my apartment today. I went to the store to get dinner and about half way home I realize I don't have my house keys. So I had the window that is next to the deck cracked. I slide it open and did a balancing act to get into my place. I had a good laugh after that.

QuoteFor me, I tend to carry a spare key in my wallet.
well new car's like my 2005 VW TDI have micro chip in them and "spare key" cost around 250 bucks. not cheap. plus they are big keys too.. not something that would ft in wallet..

What kind of vehicle? I just learned 2 new ways to break into a Toyota Tacoma... 3 if you include breaking windows.

Not really. I used to repo cars. Found several magnetic key boxes on some of the ones that I had to take and it only made my job that much easier.

So when you go to work you clock in by the second and charge your boss how much for the 10 minutes a day that you really work?
and just think you don't even have the $25,000 a year yellow page ad or any of the other $60,000 a year overhead

Quoteyou americans need to invent better cars.
its nearly impossible to lock my keys in. i cant push the lock button on my door unless the door is shut. and i cant push the remote lock button unless the door is shut. and the remote is on the key.
=)
Yeah, my acura is the same way... I *can't* lock the keys in. It isn't possible. You can't use the lock button, manual lock switch, or lock them in the trunk. (it has a handle like a door kinda)
Kinda neat and nice. I have locked my keys in my truck before, but thats just an exercise of pushing the window open on the back of the cab. Stealing a truck would be easy if you know how to start it w/o a key. Takes 30 seconds to open the back window and be quiet about it on most trucks w/o a cap.

Same for my Durango, but I could have a regular key cut that would open the door. Just not run the engine. That's in my wallet.

I used to have a Galant that was not supposed to allow the driers door to be locked when it was openand there was a key in the ignition. It worked well, but the switch was so sensitive, shutting the door would sometimes lock the door without even touching the button.
Now I just carry two key rings, so that one is always in my pocket. The downside is I have to keep closer track of my keys, because it would be quite easy to leave them somewhere and not notice till quite a bit later.
