Keys in the car...car locked.

Recommended Posts

So today was an odd day. Three people locked their keys in their cars today at work. And that was a big deal...cuz...well three of them did it on the same day when its not something that happens often. So guess what I did tonight.

...Yup that's right, I locked 'em in. When I took the trash out, I remembered that I left the car unlocked, so I opened the door, hit the lock button and swung it shut...damn it...son of a, the reason I didn't lock it was because I left the keys in the ignition when I got home.

So here I am, its midnight and I'm waiting for the AAA guy to come and unlock it. I was going on an hour of trying to hangar it when my neighbor came home and offerd her AAA service. That was mighty nice of her, but now I have to wait all damn night rather than just get a good night sleep and go in late in the morning with a good excuse.

Shit.

Thank god for Pop-a-lock, $25 and quickly to anywhere in the B/CS area. Not only that, but if you're an idiot parent who locked a young kid in a car, you get your doors unlocked for free.

For me, I tend to carry a spare key in my wallet. It helps. You don't always have your wallet outside your truck, but its better then nothing.:)

I've been meaning to get a spare key made since september. I think I'll do it tomorrow because that makes sense.

you americans need to invent better cars.

its nearly impossible to lock my keys in. i cant push the lock button on my door unless the door is shut. and i cant push the remote lock button unless the door is shut. and the remote is on the key.

=)

A Home made metal match box with a strong magnet stuck under your car is a great place to keep a spare key.
After getting skaned for $55 to open my car in seconds I decided to get a little metal box and a magnet.

Cost me $2.50.

Now I have no probs:)

I keep a spare key in a key box in the back of my truck just for that reason.

I had to break into my apartment today. I went to the store to get dinner and about half way home I realize I don't have my house keys. So I had the window that is next to the deck cracked. I slide it open and did a balancing act to get into my place. I had a good laugh after that.:P

So when you go to work you clock in by the second and charge your boss how much for the 10 minutes a day that you really work?

and just think you don't even have the $25,000 a year yellow page ad or any of the other $60,000 a year overhead

Yeah, my acura is the same way... I *can't* lock the keys in. It isn't possible. You can't use the lock button, manual lock switch, or lock them in the trunk. (it has a handle like a door kinda)

Kinda neat and nice. I have locked my keys in my truck before, but thats just an exercise of pushing the window open on the back of the cab. Stealing a truck would be easy if you know how to start it w/o a key. Takes 30 seconds to open the back window and be quiet about it on most trucks w/o a cap.

I used to have a Galant that was not supposed to allow the driers door to be locked when it was openand there was a key in the ignition. It worked well, but the switch was so sensitive, shutting the door would sometimes lock the door without even touching the button.

Now I just carry two key rings, so that one is always in my pocket. The downside is I have to keep closer track of my keys, because it would be quite easy to leave them somewhere and not notice till quite a bit later.
