While i applaud your thinking that you need to learn your belly skills first before freeflying, i couldn't let this part go without making a comment. A hybrid IS NOT just another skydive. Yes, you were on your belly where you feel comfortable. However i am sure you were flying at a much higher speed than normal belly jumps and you also had someone else hanging from you. Those facts add many links in the chain of events. Please just think about it.

Heh - I was doing a pickup 2 way with a stranger at Perris at jump 30something and by the time the otter got to altitude it turned into a 3 way hybrid with 3 floaters flying with us. Was fun as hell, with a pretty good linked exit before the guy dropped down.

What really sucks is losing your goggles and glasses shorty after having a corneal transplant, while you still have stitches in both eyes. Luckily for me, it was as I was coming off the hill out of a 182. I kept my eyes open just long enough to be sure I was pointed away from everyone else then tracked for about ten seconds, then waved off for a good five before opening.

Luckily my buds realized what had happened and ran out to where I landed so they could tell me when to flare.

BTW Nate, I lost my Mirage Free(yeah, right)bag this past weekend too. I feel your pain.

Sorry to hear that, shitty timing to loose the, as you put it, not so free bag wasnt it ... Yea, it wasnt so bad for me.. i could actually see very well without goggles, I was quite surprised.
