Atlanta Ga peeps. need some help!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so the wife and I having talked about it for too damn long have decided to move. We picked the Atlanta area for a few reasons. But now, where does one want to live with his wife and large dog, and most likely be unemployed for a bit when I get there?
I want to rent, preferably something with very little maint, and easy access to freeways and skydiving.
any tips, hints, suggestions?
Were planning on moving as soon as we can, but not before a house im caring for is closed on (june 22).

thanks in advance.B|

I got to you, didn't I :)
Drop Kelly or Mouth a PM, they've lived here a while and can probably give you some good info on locations, etc depending on your lifestyle and vocation.

Good hanging with you this weekend.

I would move somewhere like Smyrna if I didn't have a job yet. That is where I moved for 6 months before I got a house when I moved here 10 years ago. After you get a job, you might decide where you would like to live for the long term. If you work on the other side of town from where you work, the commute can be brutal.

Easy access to Freeways and Skydiving:
Look into West Cobb County.

Somewhat affordable Rent . You are looking at $850 to $1000 per moth for a reasonable 3 bedroom house with a yard for the dog.

3 Near by DZ`s (The Farm, Rome and ASC) with 2 more just over an Hour away (SDA and Monroe).

East Cobb is even closer to interstates but the cost goes up considerably.

Warning.. No matter where you live, Atlanta Traffic sucks.

I think maybe somewhere between Macon and Atlanta would be good. (You don't want to actually live in Macon, though. It's mostly scary.)

South of the city tends to cost a little less than north of it, but Marietta and Smyrna (falling under the aforementioned "West Cobb" category) are good, and not too far from the city. Kennesaw's a bit further out in West Cobb, but you might have better luck with selling farm equipment out in that neck of the woods. (BTW, just to clarify, West Cobb is north of the city.) South of the city, there's Griffin and Jonesboro, both of which are nice in some areas and scary in others. :D

1. Im a bit of a country boy, so Id rather be a bit further out. But Im open to new places and things. thats why Im goin!
2. Ive been in sales and management for most of my carreer, but again, I may take the first thing that comes along. I have a class A CDL also.
3.traffic comes with the territory. Ill deal. the less the better, but hey, id be livin in atlanta.:D
4.I do work 7-5 job, but again Im open, ive over the years also worked 2nd and 3rd shift. I prefer a 9-5 thing.
5.my dog is an inside dog, large too. so a fence isnt really needed either.

thanks for all the help! :)

a 7-5 job is cool.. less triffic in the a.m.

you dont want to live on the southside. its cheaper for a reason.. kinda like kelly!:P

anyways. the kenasaw area sounds like a good place... there is access to all the highways very easy. you also have pleanty of places around there or just slightly north "against traffic" that you could do that sort of job with. if you go WAY south of atlanta you might find jobs in the area also, but im sure the pay isnt as well down there...

especially being a country boy, the kennasaw area or just north in cherokee county, you will fit right in.. although it is getting more and more diverse and developed out there... i live in woodstock just down the road from kennesaw.. i have easy access to ga400 and 575-75. and im just on the corner of marietta fulton and cherokee.. but in cherokee.."cheaper taxes....".. rent isnt that bad out there at all, depending on what your looking for. i rent rooms in my house out for $500 month and that includes everything... although im packed full right now till august.

good luck and if you need anymore info let me know

Deal! That works out great as we will not be training at all but organizing all weekend. Which also means the kegerator will be working overtime as it will be stocked with a fresh, tasty brew of some type and mucho Jaggerbomb supplies!
