MarkM 0 #28 June 12, 2005 Gawd, like, skydiving is so 90's. Haven't you seen the Mountain Dew commercials? It's all about skateboarding today.

It's all about skateboarding today. been there, done that, got like 30 t-shirts........... i just don't skysurf anymore... i've started to get into the more exptream side of skydiving..... it's jumping with your pants on fire and the asbestos underwear is left in the plane...... to make it more interestig some times i take a small marsupial up under my shirt and let is try and run around me under canopy..... so far i've only gotten rabbies 3 times and lost 2 fingers........ ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
flyangel2 2 #30 June 12, 2005 Hence the reason I asked this question a few months ago.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey
hemphog 0 #31 June 12, 2005 When I 1st saw it on TV when I was 12 I really wanted to do it. At 16 I was told by the local dz I needed to be 18, so 2 years later I made my first jump. I knew that whole time I was going to love it... and it was even better then I thought it would be!! I don't know how or why I knew... I just did. Why do I jump? For fun. Nothing beats bombing out that door!! It doesn't hurt things that the sport looks cool tho. Better then loving and having fun at something that people think sucks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!" freeflysax 0 #32 June 13, 2005 How about seeing your rainbow halo on the mist below as you track right through your shadow! I'll never forget jump 23, that's when I saw that for the first time. I feel privileged to be able to see stuff like that. How many humans have ever seen that with their own eyes. If that's not cool, I don't know what is. Zenister 0 #33 June 13, 2005 Quoterather I am interested to know the thoughts of 'real' skydivers as regards 'proper' motivation to enter the sport. I maintain 'fun' is an OK reason ... though as I thnk about it 'cool' may not necessarily have the same meaning as fun to everyone. absolutely 'fun' is a good reason.. it is reason enoug to try everything/anything once, if you enjoy it try it again... if the sky becomes a deeper blue and you cant think of anything other than being in the air whenever you are outside.... sell all your possessions and move to the DZ ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. DrewEckhardt 0 #34 June 13, 2005 Many people wouldn't use the word "cool" to desribe guys who hold hands with eachother and spend thousands of dollars on custom tailored suits plus color coordinated acessories.

Sure they do. Kids love the Backstreet Boys. And what about the NBA ? Is all that butt-slapping when they leave the court really necessary ?
Zenister 0 #36 June 14, 2005 Quote Is all that butt-slapping .... really necessary ? if you say "Good Game" when you do it you can slap ANYONE's ass... its a DZ rule at one place at least... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
