Fire breathing

Recommended Posts

My gf does it, and she taught me how in one evening. It can be very dangerous if not done properly and with the right fuel. We use clear lamp oil. It is kind of greasy in your mouth but no bad taste. Just make sure you breath in through your nose, then spray the oil out, you want more of a mist than a stream.:D

Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

I watched a guy's face catch fire when he tried to do it for the first time, drunk of course. Literally, his whole face was on fire. It was wicked scary looking. He's probably still got some nasty scarring... B|

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

do it with everclear. Simply fill mouth with it, hold candle or lighter in front of mouth, and try to blow out a mist above the candle. if you screw it up and just spit out everclear onto the candle, drop it and put out the fire on your hand.

Fire Breathing is the most dangerous of the fire arts. Unless trained or supervised by a professional, don't do it. It's not the burn that will kill you if done wrong, it is chemical pneumonia. It is caused if you accidently breath in at all and inhale the fumes. I have seen a fellow professional fire breather get put in the hospital for this and he had been performing for years. Trying this as a novice is a bad idea.

Especially breathing fire onto a lighter full of fuel. You are asking for a Darwin award.

I have been doing it for years and I was trained by a pro breather. I won't teach it because it is too dangerous but I will teach any other fire skills.

I think you are misreading my post. I suggested doing it with everclear... its a type of liquer. bascially, if you inhale the fumes... ummm thats what you do normally while drinking.

and a lighter full of fuel is no more dangerous then a candle, which we have also used. Unless you melt the plastic off the lighter, the fuel cannot suddenly burst out and kill you no more then if you use a lighter to light fireworks or cigerattes.

I understand that firebreathing with chemicals or oils is more dangerous and shouldn't be tried, etc.

Anyone do or done it? Is it hard? Is it super-dangerous, or just somewhat dangerous?

How to get into it?

Well, I got into it when i bought a fire stick, we had some friends that used to do it for family shows, cultural things, they were islanders etc....

Fire breathing was just a natural progression, me and my friends had never done it, it was no big deal and noone got hurt, we breathed fire no biggie, we were complete novices and pulled it off injury free many times since then to, great FUN!

I'm a fir performer too and i've done a little. Our group stopped that aspect of our show because like fireflytx said, putting something like lamp oil into your body just isn't good for you.

I met a guy who had been performing for a number of years and the oil had done some funky shit to his teeth, not to mention how sick that stuff can make you. i stick to chains and staff now.
