Has this every happened to you?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering...I love skydiving, there is no doubt about it and I do have other things in my life aside from it. I have been in the sport for almost 4 years and the first year of course I was blown away by the people at the dz, and dz life in general, second year the same thing, this season I'm kind of sad, so many things have changed and things just don't seem as great as when I was new. Now I know the newness wears off of everything eventually, but is it possible to become "bored" of the dz and with the people? Or is it wrong to say that maybe the people you thought were so great kind of suck?

I am going thwough the same thing right now. I jumped for 3 years and then got burnt out. I thinkI got burnt out more from politics and fake people than the jumping itself. So I decided to hang up the sport for one year and come back next year with a fresh start. I havent jumped in 2 months now, and you know what, I am not bored. And I am never home either....there is so much to do. But every once in a while I do the actual thrill of freefall. It will deifnitly be fun to get back into it next year, and I am looking forward to it

I think those tend to piss everyone off. This is kinda sounding like the same tune to a recent song.

What's up pop? Good birthday? :)

Like you wouldnt beleive!!!!! I am on a 2 day hangover right now :)

Dayum! No wonder you haven't stopped - who knows what the shock would do to your system? Better to wind it down gently...

I'm sippin' a beer, even though I'm sick and I shouldn't. It's happy hour dammit, and I don't care!

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

I was burnt out from the politics and the "fake" people to put it nicely at the end of last season. This season started out pretty good, I was happy to see people and get back into the air, I love jumping and finally feel like I'm getting better at it, I can't really pin point what it is about the dz.. but it's really disapointing, I want to get better and become a decent skydiver, but I can't bring myself to get my ass out of the rack and be "excited" to go there, it's the same old bs, the same drama, the same gossip, it's exhausting.

Um in the order received then a serious answer...
-Yes, No or was that No, Yes;)

Things change and your perceptions of the sport and the people will change. I think skydiving is seasonal and often you will not see the same people and the people that are always there have their thing going on. Try new DZ's, try new disciplines, take a break or keep pluggin away.

I know I'm shedding my tourist rating come hell or high waterB|B|

Hey Seb if you ever wanna try out my set up, you just let me know! Of course, with your 2500 jumps you'll appreciate the raciness of my nearly-new Tri 190..

Oh you're a tandem master too?:D:DBwaaahahaaaa.... Don't worry I jump like I have -2,500 jumps. Just ask any one who has seen me flounder through the sky. Ask T. Higley at Snohomish;) I don't jump enough anymore to be on the gear I am on currently and am seriously considering up sizing... So maybe I'll take you up on you offer!

Todd's my buddy, I love that guy! He's my rigger...watched my :D cutaway from the ground. I get down, he asks if I'm ok, then checks the reserve card and raises his hands triumphantly claiming 'That's a bottle!' Gotta love Higley. B|
