Seeing a play in London

Recommended Posts

I have enough time to see one play while I'm in London in a few weeks. Any recommendations on what I should see? Has anyone seen the Queen play?

not too hot on the London plays I'm afraid, but if you're around in town on the 23rd you're more than welcome to join us on our monthly drinking session :)
or let us know when you're about and I'm sure a bunch of us will get together to show you a good night out.

by 'play' I assume you mean West End Musical.

I am a big 'Les Miserables' fan and 'Phantom' is also good. 'We Will Rock You' is supposed to be good as are a number of the others with Mel Brooks 'Producers' meant to be awesome.

You could however go and see a play. Brian Denehy is playing in 'Death of a Salesman' at the mo. Patrick Stewart is in 'A Life in the Theatre' and there are a few others out there too. Lots to choose from.

Oh, those all sound good! I know there's some kind of line you go to in order to get cheaper tickets on the day of the show. Will tickets be available for all of those shows, or how do you find out what they're selling cheap that day?

Not sure to be honest as I have always booked in advance. There is a place in Leicester Square (near tube), where you can queue for tickets that day. You may even be able to turn up at the box office of the theatre and buy them - a little exploring may be in order.
On http://www.londontheatrebookings.co.uk/ there is an option to book for the day of the show - if you compare prices you can get some reasonable deals.

Enjoy!

A friend came into the office today and she took her parents to see Billy Elliot last night and said it was absolutely amazing. No idea on cheap tickets, but there is this small ticket stand thing in Leicester Square that "reports" to sell cheap tickets, but can't confirm if it does or doesn't - might be worth investigating though.

Have a fantastic trip and if you need specifics on eating, post up, as food is more my knowledge area of specialty ;)

If you want comedy, The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged is hilarious.
I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.
