jumpinfarmer 0 #3 June 6, 2005 Actually there was a little wind form the south and we got up in less than a 100 feet. I would say we landed in about the same distance. I can't wait to go again, maybe later this week. The guy that took me was looking for a place to take off and land and my newly cut hay fields work just fine. jimmytavino 16 #4 June 6, 2005 soooooo. THAT is why we didn't see you at the DZ on sunday...... !!! Sure thing... those powered parachutes DO look like fun.... ( especially the TWO Seaters !!!I said... " Good Choice".....
SkymonkeyONE 4 #5 June 6, 2005 Two guys at Raeford have them and they look fairly entertaining. They go slow enough that I can pass them beers from my golf cart as they fly down the beer line. It must be noted that they are only allowed to fly after jumping has ceased for the day. Chuck
velvetjo 0 #6 June 6, 2005 They're a lot of fun to jump too. I've enjoyed flying in them, but it's hard for me to justify spending that much money on one instead of a cheap used airplane. It's all good though! Lance
airtwardo 7 #7 June 6, 2005 a cheap used airplane... ***What's THAT?! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
velvetjo 0 #8 June 6, 2005 Good point! You can get a decent Chief, Champ, Cessna 150, etc. for the price of a PPC though. Those things run $15k+ new from what I've seen. Maintenance on the Rotax engines is salty too. For my money, I'd rather have a Champ or something I could fly in higher wind conditions. Either way, low & slow is a fun way to go! Is that a change; I swear I saw it being flown over on the other side of the runway a few weeks ago during a jump?Leroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio... ( especially the TWO Seaters !!!I said... " Good Choice"..... His chute was built by some company I had never heard of. It was one of the first things that I looked at. The ride was the only entertainment I had all day Sunday though. I have way too much too do, and want to get up to the DZ this weekend. Besides I need to get all caught up before Batavia Boogie, now just a month away.
