No, and I apologize if this thread made it seem that way.

Don't apologize for shit! I spend my money any damn way I wish. My car breaks down and I see a Motel 6 and a Hilton side by side. I'm fucking at the Hilton on 600+ thread count sheets baby!!! Then I'll call a friend to fly down, pick up my ass and we will burn 50 bucks an hour of fuel to get my ass home!!

Get some!

Heeeelllll yeah... GET SOME!!!!!!

These whiners have obviously never slept on 600+ thread count egyptian cotton sheets. GET SOME

I appreciate high quality shoes - my backpacking boots cost well over $200. Not sure that helps since all my other shoes are like 20 bucks, hair cuts are $14 and have no idea about thread count I got bored after I got to 3.

well, I consider myself to be fairly outdoorsy, I like skydiving, camping, hiking, etc, and I am in NO way materialistic; however, I still DO like nice things, like cute clothes and the "finer" things, like gold and silver, luxurious bubble baths:D,etc. I can appreciate a lot of "high quality" things, but I don't have to have them in my life to be happy;)

If I get my hair done, I usually spend a few bucks on it. Last time I got my hair highlighted it costed me 120$ (my hair was long!) I wouldn't spend more than 60$ on just a cut, though, and I've never spent more than 40$ on one.

When I buy shoes (not often) I tend to buy decent stuff. I stopped picking up pretty shoes and I stopped trying to be thrifty because your feet pay for it. I want something well made and comfy, and that is usually between 40 and 75$.

I would not spend over 100$ on a purse, no way! I try to keep it around 50$.

I've not had too much experience with art galleries, but wouldn't break the bank to attend.

The most i've spent on a dress is 120$, it was for a wedding. Usually I shop for my stuff at Old Navy, or sales at dept stores. I've even been known to hit thrift stores. :o

I like a high thread count, and don't want any sheets that aren't 100% cotton (ach, sweat!) I am a very picky sleeper, and I tend to sleep poorly when i'm at a hotel, in a tent, etc. I am a light sleeper, I want it very cold and dark and comfortable. My pillow costed 90$. So sue me!

I will spend money eating. I dont' care how much i'm paying for "the next days shit." Some of my best memories involve good food, mmm. I would rather pay more and eat well.

I work hard at minimizing my needs...
life is too short.
:P
I do appreciate comfort. Own 1 good pair of runners, pair of sandals and walking shoes. 3 pairs of heels.

I get my hair done for my birthday every year (color, styled). It doesn't grow fast but keep it cut shoulder length because it is thin,

Sheets? luv cotton--thread count over 200 for my douvet so feathers don't escape.

Clothes? as I work from my own office in my home, my appearance is not importand for my business or customers as I work online. Own clothes that are all comfortable to me, express who I am....colors that express my mood, and a few outfits that make me feel femine, (...re: dresses, skirts, heels.) Favorite time of year is summer so most of my clothes are for summer.

Love visiting art galleries but do not own 1 expensive picture.

Priorities....roof over my head, yard like a park and natural...like to garden, food to eat, spend time with my family, make 250-300 jumps in the summer. Life is very simple.
:P

SMiles;)

None of the other things on the list interest me (besides the art, which I'd rather look at than own)...but I'm WITH you on this. There are some places I've never been and I will NEVER eat in (Taco Bell?? Kentucky Fried?)....

I have no problem going to a nice place to eat and dropping $125 on a meal (but its always fun to 'grill' a hotdog over the stove with a fork at 2 am--drunk of course!). Or dropzone food (I miss the Aviators Hot Wings!!!)

High thread count? I don't care as long as the sheets are cotton and clean (and maybe have some good memories tucked in).~~April

I'm a complete mix n match on that. I won't pay lots for a haircut or bedding, but I will spend money on clothes and will spend time in art galleries...

I spend money on good quality hiking boots, but shop at Kmart for normal shoes.
I pay 15 dollars for a haircut (and feel jipped)
I often go to Art galleries and Museums
Most of my clothes come from Target or Kmart:)

He did ammend his original statement. I think that was big of him. However, I do agree.
Please feel free to reply to my posts and pm's, but only if you're smart enough to understand what they really mean.

Last pair of shoes I bought was over $100. course, they were birkenstocks, so I don't know if the price and the brand would cancel each other out. Otherwise, if they fit and look like they'll last a long time, they can be $20 or $200, because comfortable feet are a must! Uncomfortable shoes, especially dress shoes, can ruin a whole evening.

I usually won't buy really cheap clothes, but mainly because i've discovered that a lot of times, the pricier brands last longer and fit better. So, overall, I probably spend about as much as people that buy a lot of cheap clothes, because I have to replace them less often. I usually buy pretty classic styles, so I've got suits and dresses that I've had since high school that look fine and still fit fine...damn...I just realized I graduated 9 years ago. I feel old.

Jewelry-wise, I'll spend a lot if it's something i'm planning on keeping for a long time, but if I'm just looking for something for a single evening out, I'll usually just go to Claires or something. I don't really dress up or go out often enough to justify owning a lot of expensive jewelry. I wouldn't have occasion to wear it enough to make the cost worthwhile.

Hair-wise, I've spent over $100, but it was to have my stylist dye my hair, and my hair at that time was a couple of inches past my waist, so it took her about 4 hours. Beyond that, I usually spend about $30-$40.

Art wise, I like looking. Clownburner and I wandered through a few galleries last week in Kona, but I usually don't buy, mainly because I'm not home often enough to enjoy it. My apartment furniture is mostly ikea, mainly again, because it's cheap and I'm never home long enough to care.

Basically, I guess what it comes down to is that i like being outdoors, but I also really appreciate my creature comforts. I've worked on dinosaur digs with no running water (no showers!) for weeks, but when we got back to town, I'll admit to picking the nicest hotel around and ordering room service. Comfortable clothes and shoes are a must, but I like them to look good too.

I bought DocMarten boots 12 years ago for over $200. Best shoe purchase I ever made.

While on my feet, those shoes have:

walked across a good part of Ireland
trudged through ankle deep mud for miles at a dino dig site to find shelter from pouring rain, lightning, and flash floods
hiked through most of Yellowstone and a good portion of Glacier NP.
worn on my first tandem jump
hiked through canyons, natural arches, and native american ruins
wandered aimlessly through the French Quarter in New Orleans
Walked over an active volcano

and a ton of other stuff I can't think of right now. Best damn shoe purchase I ever made, and after all that, with a bit of polish, they look pretty much brand new. Average cost: less than $20 a year.

amen, you only live once. fucking a, you made your money, spend it as you wish .... one day i want to be loaded enough that i can take a stack of a hundred dollar bills, and fucking burn it.

do what feels good, to hell the cost or the brand

Yes, but unfortunately, "spending it as you wish" often translates to "spend it pretentiously and ostentatiously," and people end up paying WAY more for an item than that item is worth, even to them.

$900 for a fucking PURSE? Tell me, please, and try to do a good job: What the FUCK makes ANY PURSE worth that much money? Is it lined with gold thread? I'm asking about the difference between the actual cost of materials and manufacture, and the retail price. 'Cause I'm telling you, these people are paying for a bullshit name and nothing more.

$400 shoes? Again, same questions apply. WTF can make shoes worth that much unless they simply are made of materials that cost that much raw? Here's the trick: if you have to be TOLD that they cost that much, rather than being able to LOOK at them and say, " Those must be $400 shoes if they're a dollar!" then they ain't fuckin' worth it.

Well, it sounds like you've gotten your money out of them, fine, but most of those things I would have either done barefoot, or in a pair of Nike hiking boots that cost me far less than $200, or the Timberland work boots that cost me $100, twelve years ago.

It amazes me that people think that they need high-tech boots to hike. I do it with no footwear at all, and it feels better, doesn't risk blisters, gives me better traction, and doesn't erode the paths I walk either. When I really do need shoes, I wear the least I can get away with.

The rest of it is bullshit marketing making people think they need the high-markup items...

If you require certain kinds of linen in order to be able to sleep comfortably, then you are a prickly, fussy person who is bound to just annoy the shit out of anyone you try to spend time with. Hard-to-please people are also hard-up for pleasing those they are with.

Evidently I'm a prick. I mean a prickly, fussy, and annoying prick.:D

It's really all about what the individual thinks something is worth to "them". I believe I'm a minimalist to a point. I also don't judge others.

It's my money, I earned it, I can spend it how I wish.;)

I have a pair of Cole Haan loafers that I paid $225 for....8 years ago. They're still going strong. My $150 Doc Marten boots I got 6 years ago? They still get the job done.

Haircuts I pay about $15, with tip.

For nice clothes, I will definitely spend extra money, as I know that it will fit better and last longer.

Ditto with sheets. I have some 500-count cotton sheets and they've lasted for ages with no piling or any other damage from repeated washing/drying.

The point is this... I will happily pay more for quality things that I know will give me greater comfort and longevity of use.:)

Buck, I bet you are a total sissy on camping trips!!!>:(

I understand your "tastes," but this persona you are trying to expose doesn't suit you. You are not MEAN/PRICKLY. You are just a little picky, and I really don't mind that "quality" when you share your beer:D
