I have 4 cats at home, the 2 older ones we adopted from the local shelter... one of them is the best damn mouser I've ever seen, and the other just loves to sit on my shoulders... :)

Your cats look really sweet (looks nervously round for Swedish) and hope you don't value your furniture too much. ;)

OK it's been 4 hours now. After the women from the humane society left, the cats remained under the bed. While they were here, the cats only ventured out very briefly, then went back under.
I tried to coax them out. The male looked like he wanted to play, but was just too shy. So I left them in the bedroom for a few hours to explore. When i came back they were STILL under the bed.

They don't appear to be really AFRAID of me, just very very shy.

Day 2:

As the people at the humane society warned me, these kittens are VERY shy.

They've been hiding under the bed most of the time. I left the bedroom for a few hours to hopefully let them explore. When I came back it looked as though the food I put out for them this morning was still untouched.

This afternoon I finally coaxed the male out with a little wire toy. He still won't let me pet him though, & everyonce in awhile he would look at me & retreat back under the bed. But while he was playing the female started watching intently... It appears as though the male, Sonny, is the one who takes the initiative & makes sure everything is OK before the female (Savannah) will come out. She is usually hiding behind him.

This is going to take a while.

Day 3

I ate a piece of left over fried chicken in front of them, & they became very interested. The male came out & allowed me to pet him. The female is venturing out a little, then going back under the bed.

Just ate someChinese food while sitting on the floor near them. They were very curious. The male, Sonny, is coming right up to me now to be petted.
(at least, when I have food.:P)

from an email I sent out today:

Quote

Thursday:

The cats are still shy but growing bolder every day.

I've been playing with them in the mornings &
evenings, mostly using the wire toy ("cat dancer")
that Bongo always loved so much. The wire toy is very
effective because it moves around quickly &
erratically like a small animal. At first only the
male, Sonny, would play while his sister watched from
beneath the bed. By Sunday evening she was playing as
well, and the two of them were running around after
it. The female, Savannah, is EXTREMELY shy. Whenever
I stood up she would hide under the bed. She wouldn't
let me pet her.

By Tuesday Sonny was allowing me to pet him. Both of
them were tearing around after the cat dancer much
more aggressively. They LOVE that toy!

Tuesday evening I brought home a large mouse to feed
to my snake. But I brought the little carton into the
bedroom & set it down on the floor. The mouse was
scratching around in there and the cats were
FASCINATED! I don't think they've ever encountered a
mouse before, but it seemed to wake something up
inside of them. I opened one end of the carton, and
they started batting at the mouse.

They started getting pretty aggressive. Savannah was
for once completely unconcerned with my presence, and
started batting at the mouse in a VERY strong and
aggressive manner! It was like a major personality
change, because mostly she had acted very timidly and
all of a sudden here she was acting like Bongo (my former cat, who was very aggressively playful).
Somewhere within that timid, shy cat is a bold
predator.

I eventually took the mouse away & fed it to the
snake, & the cats went back under the bed. Sonny
comes out & rubs against me when I'm pouring out the
catfood, but Savannah has always stayed under the
bed, until this morning. She finally allowed me to
pet her.

So it seems that the cats are steadily becoming bolder
and more playful.
