haniel32 0 #1 May 25, 2005 I downloaded a bunch of music but it's all .ogg format and my wonderful ipod does not accept nor converts .ogg format. scottbre 0 #2 May 25, 2005 Does iTunes not automatically convert it to your preferred format for you? I pulled some wma files into iTunes and it turned them into mp3's for me, no fuss. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
mnealtx 0 #3 May 25, 2005 You're gonna take a pretty major quality hit, converting, as I understand it... any way you can get the files from the server as mp3? Google is your friendMike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706

scottbre 0 #6 May 25, 2005 So I guess the question you need to be asking yourself is: Why did you download the one format that is going to prove to be most tedious to get onto your iPod? hehe ... Actually your best bet is to find someone who has the cd that you want (I mean BUY the cd of course ) and then rip it into your preferred quality settings. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" Thanatos340 1 #10 May 25, 2005 I havd a similar problem with my Ipod and WMA files. I bought several Songs from Napster and they are in WMA format. Itunes will not convert any "Protected" songs to MP3. I have not found any software that will convert legally purchased files into another format. All that I have tried only work on converting unprotected files. My only option was to Burn the songs to a CD and then Rip them back off in MP3 format to get them on my Ipod. Pain in the ass. Almost every other MP3 player on the market will play both MP3 and WMA files (Most will also play .OGG) and you are not forced to use iTunes to transfer files. Also it is a real Pain in the ass to delete a large group of songs off the Ipod. Very easy to do with other MP3 players. They show up as a removable drive and you just drag and drop what you want. Ipods suck in my opinion!!

I always just sync everything on my iPod but if you set iTunes iPod preferences so that only "checked songs are updated" you can just uncheck the songs you don't want and the next time you plug in your iPod they will be removed.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
murrays 0 #12 May 25, 2005 This article points to ways to remove DRM and also to a file converter for converting OGG to MP3, etc.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Ipods suck in my opinion!! You aren't forced to use iTunes. There are several other programs that will tranfer mp3's to an iPod. There's even one that can be run completely from the iPod, so that nothing has to be installed on the computer. iPods don't suck they just have their quirks like every other electronic gadget out there. Thanatos340 1 #15 May 26, 2005 QuoteThere are several other programs that will tranfer mp3's to an iPod That is great news. Could name one for me? I just want something to move files back and forth easily. None of all the "Library" and "Playlist" crap. Jump Simply move files back and forth and be able to easily delete many songs off the Ipod that i am bored with. I can do this very easily with my $59 Korean JumpDrive MP3 player. It is a Royal pain in the ass with the Ipod.
scottbre 0 #16 May 26, 2005 I highly recommend SharePod. That's the one I was talking about that runs from the ipod. Although I've never had a problem deleting a bunch of songs off of my ipod using iTunes. I just highlight what I want gone, and hit the magical delete key. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!"
