alw 0 #1 May 23, 2005 I just put my little girl (ok she's 30 but she's still my little girl) on a plane to go back home. She came down to FL to see the 12:01 Star Wars show Thurs. On Friday she came out to the DZ to watch me jump and decided to make a tandem jump. The folks at the DZ were terrific (as usual) and made it a very special event. I rode up with her and she got to see me exit, which helped with her anxiety. Not to be outdone by Ann Curry, she landed out (safety first). It was truly a day to remember and we both have video to help (I had a tune up video done to show where the rough spots are now that I'm soloing). When your family and friends can't figure out why you do it, it sure is nice to have at least one person understand the feeling. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure. dixieskydiver 0 #2 May 23, 2005 Yea it helped alot to get my Dad up in the air because my Mom isn´t very excited about the whole thing. It wasn´t too long after that I convinced him it would be alot safer if he helped me buy some new gear Dixie HISPA #56 Facil Rodriguez "Scientific research has shown that 60% of the time, it works every time." Evelyn 0 #5 May 23, 2005 That's so cool!! My daughter did a tandem when I did my AFF Level 1. She got to sit in the co-pilots seat and I think she was more excited about that than seeing her mom jump. She loved her tandem and loved the tunnel time I gave her and my son for Mother's Day, but I think I'm still the only skydiver in the family Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
gmittar 0 #6 May 23, 2005 I don't have any kids so can just imagine how cool it must be to get one of them to jump. big CONGRATZ to you |>.<| Seriously, W.T.F. mate?
freeflir29 0 #7 May 23, 2005 That's cool! I can't wait until my son is 18. I'll do my best to put the bug in him to jump. He must carry on the aviation tradition in my family! Just 8 more years to wait.
livendive 8 #8 May 23, 2005 My favorite jump to date was taking my daughter on a tandem. I thought I'd be nervous, you know, "It's all fun & games when it's somebody else's child" or something along those lines. I was wrong. I started grinning walking to the airplane and didn't stop till like 1 AM after I'd watched the video 50 or 60 times. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Jayhawkskychick 0 #10 May 23, 2005 Thats awsome! I jump with my dad and sister! My mom, who has made a tandem, loves to go out to the DZ with us and hang out. It's a lot of fun! It's awsome being able to share this experience with my family.
Jumpervint 0 #11 May 24, 2005 My daughter made a tandem last August and I got to lurk it. It was great fun and I've watched the video a billion times. She hasn't watched it once. My wife did three student jumps (under rounds in the 70s) before she decided it wasn't for her. I love 'em both for giving it a try, and if my daughter could afford it, I'm sure she'd be active and happy. Maybe in a few years when she gets the college thing started and under control. Have to get her out of high school first; that's in a few weeks. Vint. . . . . "Make it hard again."
