jtval 0 #1 May 16, 2005 While, I like the vibes at elsinore better I may be planning to come out for the memorial day weekend. I'm imagining there'll be a boogie at perris but tell me why I should go there instead of elsinore. or vice cersa. Jump ticket prices camping available? night life? jump pace? expected vibe for the weekend? (will it be a normal weeekend at snore?)My photos My Videos
mcneill79 0 #2 May 16, 2005 You should come to Perris b/c all the cool kids will be there Edited to add: I've never been to either and would love to visit Elsinore, but I will be at Perris for the Memorial Day boogie.
jtval 0 #3 May 16, 2005 not until I show up! LOLMy photos My Videos
Evelyn 0 #4 May 16, 2005 You should plan to jump at both DZ's. They are both awesome!! And they are only like 20 minutes apart so it would be easy to go to both. Jump at both and make your own decision. Have fun!! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
Orchid 0 #5 May 16, 2005 You should consider visiting both places. Though Elsinore is my home dz, it's more like home where everyone treats you like family. I also like Perris, Perris is more diverse & the peeps there are also very nice. Plan to visit both places, then you'll compare. However, I'll be at Perris for the Memorial...."Love is doing small things with great love." skybytch 273 #6 May 16, 2005 I'll be at Perris. Not sure if that's an incentive to be there or to avoid it like the plague. QuoteJump ticket prices Rumor has it jumps are $17 if you pay the boogie fee. Quotecamping available? But of course. I know the cool place to camp too. Quotenight life? Nothing ever happens at Perris after the sun sets. Quotejump pace? How fast can you pack?
tbrown 26 #7 May 16, 2005 I'll be at Perris for Memorial Day. As far as the vibes go, I prefer the people at Elsinore. But Perris has a Skyvan and I'm a sucker for that 'Van... The pace at Perris is definitely more hectic. I take a lot of shit from people who use packers or trash pack because my 20 min. pack job isn't fast enough to suit them. At Elsinore, with fewer aircraft, it's just not an issue, as everyone has to wait a bit for their next load. Wind devils: both places have them, especially in summer. Elsinore scares me worse, since the wind devils there seem bigger and more violent. Also so much of the dropzone is planted with grass, you can't see them. At Perris, only the swoop zone is grassy, the rest of the place kicks up a dust tornado if a wind devil is passing through, so you have a better warning. Elsinore is more like family. Funny, because years ago it was the other way around. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
UntamedDOG 0 #8 May 16, 2005 Perris is better. Better atmosphere, more going on. Lots of activities to keep you busy. Elsinore isn’t bad, I just don’t find myself wanting to to go there that often. Seems a bit clicky.
Cyanide41 0 #9 May 16, 2005 where can I find more info on this memorial day boogie. The perris site didn't mention it JAMES

dunesurfer 0 #11 May 16, 2005 I would probably go with the jump ticket prices for the memorial day boogie. Either way, let me know where you are going to be so we can get some jumps together. (my reserve is current this time )
jtval 0 #12 May 16, 2005 lol, Sounds cool ted. I noticed you were posting a bit more lately! anyway, I have been to both DZ's And I like each one for its own reasons. I have at least two other people going and I want to get them all on the same page. I would like to stay at snore and check it at perris for a few jumps but If Im gonna pay the boogie fee I may stay at perris. I am sure thast by now there are no rooms left and the last time I was there they diodnt want camping so I wont be staying long. unless we can camp on the dz. anyone know that situation? My photos My Videos
mcneill79 0 #13 May 16, 2005 You can find info on the Perris website and there is a thread on here about it.

NWFlyer 2 #16 May 16, 2005 re: the Perris vs. Elsinore decision - I'm planning to spend most of the weekend at Perris but will probably swing by Elsinore on Sunday, especially since I still have a jump ticket on my account from back in the monsoon season."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. skybytch 273 #17 May 16, 2005 Quotethe last time I was there they diodnt want camping so I wont be staying long. unless we can camp on the dz. I was in a tent at Perris from Nationals last year through New Year's this year. It's not a problem to camp on the dz. I'd recommend putting your tent down by the memorial park instead of in the designated tent area near the Bombshelter - a bit longer walk to the facilities but much quieter. MGSkyFlyer 0 #22 May 18, 2005 The memorial park is at the southend of runway 15 or I guess you could say it is by the threshold of rwy 33. You should really check it out sometime, the memorial...in remembering our past it is then, and only then when we can truly spread our wings. My father was the pilot of that crash. Perris or Elisnore ? I go to Perris from occassion but for me it's a little too close. That was not my playground, it was my dad's. The moment the metal bird that was to take me into the heavens left the dirt strip at Elsinore, it was then I knew that I was home.
