Great/Famous movies you haven't seen

Recommended Posts

I have a bunch of Famous movies I haven't seen. Spinal Tap was was removed this weekend thanks to some friends and a rainy Sunday. :)
Some of the biggies:

The Godfather Series
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Scarface
All the Star Trek's except IV
Casablanca

I purposely avoided "It's a Wonderful Life" for a long time when every network showed it all through Christmas. When it was on just once last year I watched it and it was pretty good.

There are a bunch more, but I can't think of them right now.

'bout damn time!

I haven't seen Raging Bull or Scarface, either.

Hmm... what else... I'd never seen Caddyshack till last year. :$

At one point I had a goal to see all 100 films on the AFI's "top 100 list" (see here: http://www.afi.com/tvevents/100years/movies.aspx). Not saying I necessarily agree that those are the "best" movies, but it's at least a good attempt at it. I've probably seen half of them at this point.

I do watch alot of movies, I just never seem to catch certain ones. Most of what I watch is edited for TV since I'm too cheap to rent and only have basic cable. :(

'Forest Gump'

...... that's a good movie right there... ;)

One of the better movies ever made too, as far as telling a good story. ;)

i have seen all those but one that is my favorite that many of you people have never seen is one of the first vampire movies ever made. Silent film called NOSFERATU.... it was made in germany in 1927ish... somewhere around that time.....

i recommend anyone to see it.... the effects in it were way ahead of there time......

I finally got 'Lawrence of Arabia' off my list. All the other 'great' ones listed here, I've seen. Even 'Nosferatu'.

But never let it be said that I'm not one to create some mischief...if you can find it, see 'Man With a Movie Camera' (Dizga Vertov, 1929). I think I'll plug that one in tonight!:)

The AFI 100 seems pretty lopsided, and since it's the "American" Film Institute, why are there so many British productions (Kubrick made the list twice)? Is it just because of who bankrolled it (2001 by MGM), or who directed it (Kubrick wasn't a US citizen AFAIK) or who starred in it (Kier Dullea is Canadian)?

The Ten Commandments didn't make the list - I don't get that.

Hey Quade, what's your take? I think "American Fluff Institute" is more fitting...:S...your opinion?

Hello Cutie,
Sounds like we are going to have "Great Old Movies" Night at the DZ. We'll order a bunch of pizzas, cooler full of beer and watch The Holy Grail, The Meaning of Life and Caddy Shack. We'll see about setting up the packing room with a big screen.
