That's a valid point, but I bought my pc105 from them and had zero problems with ordering it. They sent me exactly what I ordered and charged me what they said they would, so I am more than happy with my "personal" experience with them. Just ordered my 60gb ipod photo from them, btw. SpeedRacer 1 #27 May 9, 2005 Another IPOD question: stereo speaker system...My POS sound system at home just died on me (No, "POS" is not a brand name! . If i get an IPOD I could just have my next home sound system built around it. Has anyone tried those BOSE speaker system things that are made to have your IPOD plugged into it? rocketfeuille 0 #28 May 9, 2005 I don't own one, but have heard the BOSE iPod system and think it sounds great. On the same level as the wave radio, which is amazing. If I had the money, i would already own one.
SpeedRacer 1 #29 May 9, 2005 Just found out that butterfly charges $99 for the 3 year extended warranty, but Bestbuy only charges $50. so that narrows the price gap a bit, since I was going to follow my friend'a advice & get the extended warranty. Of course, I'd pay state tax at Bestbuy. On the other hand, if something went wrong, it would be easier to just drive over to Bestbuy & get it fixed. goose491 0 #30 May 9, 2005 I want to warn you about something. The Ipods are whicked-cool but did you know that they are considered "disposable product" by Apple? My friend had one that stopped working. He called to see about having it repaired. Anyway, turns out it's one of those "Well it's gonna cost $x to fix it, you might as well go and buy a new one because it's cheaper." My buddy was really put off and did a little research. It turns out that the ipods are built to fail after approximately 18 months. That is to say, there is an epidemic of them failing at around 18 months. The battery they use only has a lifespan of that long and they do not replace 'em. Now I say "built to fail" because he called Apple back in disbelief. He asked, they confirmed. His words: "Well I never considered my Ipod to be a disposable item you know?" Their words: "Well Apple does." I found that apphauling. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! SpeedRacer 1 #31 May 9, 2005 Um I thought Apple now had a battery replacement program because of that complaint about the earlier ones. Also, that's why you get the 3 year extended warranty. If they can'tfix it, they'll replace it. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
DavidKing 0 #32 May 9, 2005 I have an original 5gig that I preordered months before they were released in late 2001 I have replaced it's battery twice 29.95 takes about 6 min. still works like a dream. I also have a 20 and just ordered a 60 photo I use mine to transfer Video files work related files between Macs at home, work and the DZ. HP pods will work with Macs as well. I thought a 20 would be large enough but since then my music collection has grown to over 12,000 songs, get the 60 you will not be disappointed.
