How to get rid of swallows???

Recommended Posts

Last year some swallows made their little mud nest under the eaves and above my front door. Never having seen swallows nest I let them. Well, they pooped all over my front step and door, plus they make a mess with their mud. It is the poop that stained the concrete that was totally gross! Well, this year ... no way, Jose!

I scraped off heir first layer of mud and put up a fake snake above my door, but they are constantly fighting the snake and putting up their mud. Any ideas?

Don't try to convince me to let them stay -- ain't happening. Just tell me how I can keep them away without harming them? What's wrong with Capestrano (sp?) anyway? Why can't they go there? :S:P;)B|

I'm not familiar with the migratory habits of swallows in your area, but if they're not back yet you need to act fast and remove any nests now and try attaching stainless steel or aluminium at an angle along the eaves. the metal might make it hard for the mud to stick. If you're persistent they will eventually leave and look for a more peaceful place.
Good luck!

Try to string along something shiney mirrors, aluminum squares, not tight, just so they move around in the wind or when there bumped.

it can't be just one has to be a few, the reflection of light bothers them and they may go away. it works for the pidgeons that used to bath my car in shit everyday, if not try spray a little ammonia around that area, that will just make them move, hopefully to your neighbors. You'll need it to kill the shit germs anyway.
