Are you still actively skydiving?

Does any one else find it alarming that 20% of those who voted are either, ex-skydivers or never skydived?

I find it more alarming that people have an elitist attitude because they happen to be fortunate enough to be more current/still jumping in the sport than others.

Last jump - Oct 18, 1986
What made me stop? - total on my main, streamer to explosion on reserve.....( I suppose the broken back, foot, and internal injuries were a factor too)

I can vouch for the fact that friendships forged in the sky dont end because of being groundbound.
Oh, and that stuff you hear about "after you'e been there, you never quit looking at the sky, and yearning to return"....yeah.....it's true. At least , after 18 years, it's still true for me.

6 tandem jumps the day before yesterday.
Yesterday we had plenty of tandems, but I did not jump because I was too busy repairing 6 harnesses.
Today promises to be another 8 tandem day.

Last year I did 350 tandems and more PFF than I can count.

Is that current enough for you folks?

Yup, ever weekend and during the week, I'm jumping quite a bit. A lot of tandems and a decent amount of "sport jumps" as well.

Today, not so much, but if I could control the weather I'd be very rich.;) Atleast I can sit at the computer while at the DZ and keep myself entertained.

Had a really fun jump yesterday, I chased a tandem canidate out the door on the "bad student" drogueless jump. THAT was fun, just shorts and a t-shirt, my kind of skydive where I really don't have to worry about fallrate. Hell, even got to fly some head down to catch them. Parked infront of them out about 200ft (just in case) and watched...laughing remembering when I did that jump working to get my rating. Came down and had a bitching swoop with a fat carve and a lot of speed (first no wind day we've had in a while). After that the beer light was on and my day was complete.

haven't jumped since the end of september 2004

It's not that i dont want to jump, it's just while i'm at university i can't jump, i have no transport, the nearest dz is about an hour and a half drive away, with no suitable public transport to get me there (dz's are always in the middle of nowhere!!) plus there's the lack of money.

The problem is I got my university place before i started skydiving, if it was the other way round i'd have gone to a different university that had a good skydive club.

Hmm.. I'm still current (last jump being April 2nd) but I probably won't jump until December.

I'm trying to get 2 rigs together and double up when I do get the chance though,
having said that, I find jumping en masse (100+ in a few weeks) accelerates my personal learning curve,
improves my confidence & gives me time to observe other peoples techniques (in the air as well as on the ground).

I'm not in a well paid job, and I like to make my quality time count...
and yes I sometimes get a little bit down looking at my jump numbers and time served,
but I know I'm not the only one, and boy does it feel good when you finally get the chance. ;)

I'm fucking winning

Not current, financially not possible at this point in time. Maybe I can fork some $$ for a tandem to scratch the itch...[:/]

I'll scratch you itch for free:)

Sorry I couldn't help myself:)

R.I.P.

BTW How tall are you;)

Unfortunately, a non-skydiving-related injury has kept me sidelined for 6 months. After too many doctors and tests, it looks like I may need spinal surgery, possibly a spinal fusion. I see a spinal surgeon next week for his opinion. After making 260+ jumps last year, this year really sucks. I miss it sooooo much. :(
There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...
